USA has become a threat to the world - pushing us closer and closer to WW3

Trump supporters always blame the fake news.Even when they see him spouting his rubbish.

OGF we (currently) have every right to draw our own conclusions from reports and people do base their opinions on the information presented to them and discuss those opinions with others. That is how the legal system has always worked. That is how freedom of the press works, that is how a free society works. Nobody has challenged the validity of the video clips circulated by the media worldwide. Nobody in the team at the White House has said they are fake.

Although we are heading to a dangerous AI world where we may not in future be able to voice those conclusions or see the truth or trust what we are presented with. We should all be fighting to protect that right to draw our own conclusions don’t you agree?

I’m surprised because judging by your past posts I thought you were against a surveillance society, against mind control and against propaganda. Have you changed your mind?

Azz yes the clip is real and this has not been disputed by the White House, but Tik Tok as a platform could be any representation of a fake human talking because now they can mimic any language and change the mouth to appear as if the person in a video is speaking in that language.

Most people can still pick up it’s fake, but the future tech may become so sophisticated we will be hard pushed to tell.

We are now being encouraged to use AI at work to “help” us with interpretation of documents and to interrogate our files to analyse contents so we don’t have to read them all. It really is incredibly sinister when you think of the implications. Nobody has been consulted on this creep of AI into our societies. Nobody has voted for this.

Trump is heartily encouraging the rollout. You are agreeing with him if you blindly trust platforms that use it.

The tragic killing of this woman is not bringing the world closer to a world war. It does bring the US closer to internal conflict. Rather, the blatant lies by this administration about the rights / wrongs of this killing are stoking the fires of internal conflict. You do not need frame by frame analysis of the shooting to simply ask the question - why did the ICE officer not simply step to one side? The question on if the car clipped him or if the woman intended to hit the officer are not important. The primary question is why did the officer opt for drawing his gun rather than stepping out of the way? There is only one answer - he decided that the use of his gun was preferable to taking easy and simple steps to avoid any risk.
The second question, given it is so very clear that shooting the woman was the decision made by the officer, is why is this Trump administration blindly backing such a bad decision by the officer? They cannot possibly think that shooting innocent people is a good thing. So they must think that supporting the officer is a better option than agreeing to a full and independent inquiry. They want to support an obvious killing so that ICE work and abuses can continue uninterrupted. And they appear to want such internal conflict.

I don’t and I don’t.

But AI is here, so you need to essentially sharpen up your critical thinking skills and do what you can to determine what may or may not be fake. Most of the videos I post are by real people, based on many things, including how they interact with other people. Like you said as it stands right now it is still relatively easy to spot a fake.

I feel sorry for the next generation though, and why it is more important than ever to rid ourselves of rulers/billionaires/trillionaires and their enablers, because humanity could well be doomed otherwise:

We shouldn’t have to do this. Not without any consultation or agreement. It’s been launched without any controls onto an unsuspecting public. It’s a massive worldwide project that we have had absolutely no say in and which will severely restrict our liberties and human rights in future. People are blind-walking into a very depressing future.

Completely agree with this US congressman in his interview with Sky News:

More on the story from CH4 News:

Well he didn’t mince his words … he has a very low opinion of Europeans and is quick to tell us what to do … except … he’s forgetting it’s HIS American President who they voted in. We didn’t.

I suspect he’s more interested in scoring points in domestic politics …did you see, in the end he strutted off rather than answer questions.

What makes you think he has a low opinion of Europeans (he is a European American after all). He seems to be trying to get spineless European leaders to wake up if anything - I completely agree with him on that, they all take the mick out of the orange pile of poo behind his back but kiss his backside in person. As Gavin said, it’s pathetic…

Latest BBC story:

US president Donald Trump has doubled down on his threats to take control of Greenland, saying on social media that there is “no going back” and that “Greenland is imperative”.

During a news conference at the White House, Trump was asked how far he was willing to go to acquire Greenland and replied, “You’ll find out”.

Makes you wonder why the American Secret Service hasn’t taken him out yet? He’s basically threatening (and leading us towards) WW3!! :icon_eek:

Something I can not work out as well. Mr Trump is leading the US down a very dark road, and no organisation seems willing to call an end to it.
One of the saddest things I have seen in my lifetime.
Let’s be honest here.
Adolf was able to do what he done because the population turned away from reality.
Below is taken from; www.openculture.com

John Stuart Mill (1806–73) was the most influential English language philosopher of the nineteenth century.
It was him who delivered an 1867 inaugural address at the University of St. Andrews and stated:

“Let not anyone pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part and forms no opinion.
Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.
He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.”

I don’t think the European leaders are spineless Azz. They are just trying to cope with a change from a rules based international diplomacy system to utter chaos. I hate to admit that in this case Boris would have been far more able to cope.

Our main aim should be to unite with Europe and reverse Brexit so that we have a strong local market and a large enough military presence to defend our turf. The EU will have to change its approach to free movement from Non European countries to make a strong union between nations possible. They will also need to stop dictating to countries about social issues which are not in the least important to the bigger strategic picture.

I agree with the second paragraph that you posted under this one - but I can’t see either of your points here. First, the default UK & Europe political approach has been conciliation, seek to find a middle ground, dialogue, etc. This is the “lets just chat” approach to a school bully - which might mean he only takes half your lunch money on the first encounter. More on the next encounter. But this is the UK / EU hope therefore for me - spineless. As both Carney and Newsom have pointed out, there are more effective approaches.
And as for Johnson. Where is there any indication that the indecisive, flim-flammy waffle merchant would have any spine in dealing with Trump?

I’m just an old skeptic Azz with long held beliefs and values that were acquired a long time ago when you could rely on people teaching and reporting the truth. There was no rolling twenty four hour news, and what news there was, was concerning your local area and community. People were too busy working and looking after their friends and families.
Not a lot of news filtered in from the outside world but was reported honestly by the local press which was family owned and run, with no agenda.
I’m probably out of order commenting on threads such as these because I speak as I find and my facts are the sum of seventy five years experience, watching the world turning into something I don’t like, and don’t really understand.
There is much we don’t know about what happens in the world and we think we do, after being bolstered up by some visual images or a journalists dramatic report, it’s only later when we get some idea after the facts have emerged and we realise that we’ve been manipulated and taken for fools.

Coughs and splutters and thinks about explaining the agenda of the Thomson family that owned (still own in fact) local papers in Scotland. Then decides its a waste of effort to explain that “back in the day” the news was manipulated at all levels from the government down to the local press. Or even mentioning the Mail’s full blown support for the efforts of one Mr Hitler in the early thirties. Hey ho, let the old guffer dream his nostalgic dreams (without re-quoting Mark Carney’s comments about nostalgia not being a strategy).
