US Election 2024 antics

He won against Clinton with millions less votes so it will probably happen again. The world is run by rich old white men.

You have an excellent point, I think (hopefully) we (the American people) recognize the threat Trump and his followers pose to our great nation and will turnout in droves to vote, if we do, like in 2020, I believe we win . I have always said we were a Corpocracy, a nation controlled / run by Corporate America and the affluent, I also think my generation has offered (and supported) the worst, especially Presidents / candidate options (exception Barack Obama) the last 23 years, though I give GW (George W Bush) credit in his initial handling of 9/11. I believe it is time to push the leadership baton on to the next generation, it can hardly be worst than Trump / Biden, but even saying thus,Biden has done a much better job than many have given him credit for.

The electorate vote is no more than a "loophole), a means of manipulating the American vote, and it is long past it’s time to go.

Last time Trump had some reasonable political people with him eg:Pence but none of them want it again and now he’s got toady Vance ,Eric,Jnr and the mad Maga mob.And to make matters worse the sinister Bannon is out of jail and ready to help.
It doesn’t look good from here.

Although I did not align with Pence’s political ideology, I did find myself respecting his personal integrity in the fall-out of the Biden win

If not only Trump but also whole group with him has same lack of such that does not bode well.

While we are waiting for the results I watched this quite interesting video discussing why Harris was not “electable” in 2020.

Why Kamala Harris lost in 2020 | If You’re Listening

I can’t understand the blanket coverage here. It’s as though there is no other news and they haven’t even closed the polls yet. It will surely be days before we know for sure?

Globalization, a historical process that describes the increasing integration of the world’s economies, cultures, and populations. It’s the result of human innovation and technological progress, and it’s characterized by the movement of goods, services, capital, people, and knowledge across borders. So, events occurring anywhere in the world effects most Industrialized nations and (at the least), International markets to some extent, some more so than others.

Trump wins the second important swing state and the trend seems obvious. Would be nice if I was wrong.

All polls have closed across the US and Donald Trump is leading, winning swing states and making gains in traditional Democrat strongholds.

unfortunately here in UK we get too much of trump on the news, makes you cringe

So it’s not too early to see the glass half empty.

Doesn’t look like there will be a female President for a very long time.

Indeed.

I bet you’re not laughing now Lincs…Seems like the Americans knew which side of their bread was buttered and taken my advice.
I’ve sent you a towel so you can wipe that egg off your face…
Towel
People are tired of Net Zero and the lefties, and the Right have gained a victory for patriotism in America and they are coming for the
UK and Europe next…

So they’d rather have a confirmed rapist as president?

I should ask them in person Helen…But there have been a lot worse presidents including the one just exiting…Of course, this is all supposition and media fiction.

I never said that Trump would not win. So no egg or towel is needed. I was highlighting that Trump will not make the majority of Americans better off. He will destroy what little social and health care exists. He will favour corporations, who have been suppressing wage rises for decades and sourcing cheaper labour where possible for decades. (See the de-skilling and outsourcing problems at Boeing as a prime example.)
Most Americans will not see prosperity from Trump. Already well off Americans will no doubt gain. But the not so well off, who voted Trump, will take comfort in seeing minorities blamed. But they will gain the prosperity you predict.
