It has been shown that learning another language helps improve your cognitive function - memory and focus - and postpones brain aging. You get brighter and stay brighter for longer. Learning a new language also improves your understanding and empathy for other cultures and broadens the mind. If you are working having competency in another language improves your earning potential and accelerates promotion. Learning another language also improves your understanding of your primary language - better knowledge of grammar and sentence structure and vocabulary. However learning another language takes effort, application, concentration and applying your brain.
I can fully understand why many Americans are fearful of learning another language and therefore think the better answer is stopping all languages except the one they (sort of, a bit, poorly) already knowâŠ
