I have a room for working out. I have a bench, a glider, an assortment of free weights and plenty of room to do it all. I try to do at least a good hard 30 minutes 3-4 days a week.
Swimming is my main exercise, then walking with the dog every day. Exercising our Clyde’s gives you a good workout too but I only do that when Himself is with me.
Yes,
Yes I am but more by being active than exercising per se. A naturally fast walking pace, ride an ordinary bike (given up the e-bike …for a while at least). Then there’s the allotment to tend. That keeps the body bending about and the muscles exercised.
I can and have used exercising items but find the above a better way for me to keep fit.
A good amount of moving about today. I walked 5¼ miles at a brisk pace. Not a countryside walk. It was along a busy roads to pick up prescription items from the doctors surgery (they have their own pharmacy). Rode to the allotment this morning and did a lot of strimming, digging and manure spreading.
Exercise, yes. I walk a lot. The dogs obviously. Two or three times a day. Then we walk to the grocery about an hour.two or three times a day with the big dog in tow. And we walk to the pharmacy. And cut the grass a couple of times a week. And various odd jobbs.
I have busy in the garden and running errands but not much in walking or real exercise this week so I need to get going on that. Sounds like you two are doing a great job!
Thank you kindly. I retired a few years ago from a pretty hectic life. We got a dog in preparation. Actually, my dear wife found where we could get one. He is a rescue, a Collie. A gem. I walk, he walks.
Maybe …except I just walked along to the Co-op to buy some flapjack (as in the ‘What’s your guilty pleasure’ thread), crisps and a bar of chocolate for snacking on later. Possibly have a beer too. I can’t go losing too many calories.
Its a balancing act.
Just worked out
I really like my Pilates unit
It’s so easy on the joints
I’ve got a few exercise machines & weights (I share the room with grandson Josh as a play room) I try to use them at least three times a week. I also enjoy walking & swimming. All on hold now due to trapped nerve in back.
I’m really missing my exercise - especially walking in the countryside.
64 years of age here. I have drunk far more than is good for me for many years, even so I intend to break some over 65 records for my local 5 km Parkrun come February of next year. To accomplish this, I need to run under 20 mins for 5 kms. I think I can do it. I ran 20:21 2 years ago on a harder course. It will not be easy, but, even so, I intend to try. My best time for 5 km is under 16 mins. It is quite shocking how slow I run these days, but, with the right approach and effort, I reckon I can still do some damage. .
Under 20 minutes, thats good…was never a runner, but I always liked to brag many years ago I did a mile in 4 mins 3 odd seconds
Mind it were on a tread mill, which everyone pointed out was easy to achieve
My training days were around 7 mins a mile for half hour jog…
30 odd seconds…not 3
That’s a nice exercise room Carol.
Thank you Bratti. Now my trapped nerve is a lot better I’ve started using it again.
That’s great. I’m in a similar state now.
Using my Pilates reformer has damaged my back some. Now I have a pinched nerve which is very painful. Too much exercise including walking causes damage but too much sitting does also . I need to lose weight so it’s tricky.
Today I’m setting up my area to start pilates on a balance ball and start my yoga.
Bratti the general rule with a trapped nerve was when I had suffered in the late 80’s…if it has not healed or there are no signs of improvement a Doctor should book you for scans…MRI or the one I had eventually had was a procedure where they inject a liquid dye into you…cant re call where it went… and then scan electronically…I could see it up on the TV Screen…and that was a stay over in Hospital back then…We had fun though as it was a mixed ward…lol
I don’t run but I walk a lot. The first stint was about half an hour with the two dogs. Then we walked to another place, a parcel depot. Then the convenience store for a neighbour who can’t walk much. That was about another ninety minutes.
