Why the Monarchy Should Have Died With the Queen

Just so we get this into perspective owing to remarks re a few million quid from the uninformed .
Prince William will now be the recipient of an income from the Duchy of Cornwall amounting to between £ 20 - 30 million per annum.
This fantastic sum generated by the huge land and business holdings of the Duchy of Cornwall is like the royals private tax haven paying no capital gains or corporation tax …
No wonder Kate is so happy in fact she must wake up every morning and still think she’s dreaming .

Charles okay he’s king what harm can you do , his age will eventually prevent numerous expensive jubilees and overseas tours.
However all the heirs & spares should be encourage to stop hugging babies, meeting and greeting & cutting ribbons to find proper self-supporting work . End the family firm asap .
As has already ably been said by Muddy end the them and us by paying tax.
The monarchy as we know it should imo end with Charles.

Meanwhile the rest of Europe recognises that monarchies are best if shrunk. From the news:
“Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, Europe’s only reigning queen and the continent’s longest serving monarch, has stripped four of her eight grandchildren of their titles, the palace announced. The official reason was to allow the four children of her youngest son, Prince Joachim, to live more normal lives, and follows similar moves by other royal families in Europe to slim down their monarchies, the palace said.”

I doubt that even the most ardent of royalist would disagree in the need for a serious pruning to take place, in personnel as well as property.

The ABC has an article about the Prince of Wales and the mixed feelings in Wales about it.

I am very hesitant to quote this, Dex…ROTFL…:joy::rofl::joy::sweat_smile::open_mouth::open_mouth:

I must show this to my Son tonight!..:joy::rofl::sweat_smile:

Is that gross or net?

I thought it was gross.

It’s definitely gross.
Their pious muttering about food banks in Wales are hardly convincing from a couple ( however photogenic) who have an income of circa £1,000,000 per month .

FGS would anybody really want the likes of Tony Blair or some pop star as head of state?

I am not a globalist and, yes, I will listen to propaganda offered from all over the world, but I don’t think ‘one size fits all’.

Why does the Head of State have to be popularly elected? It is largely a ceremonial role anyway so why not have one selected by Parliament as happens with our Governor General - but without needing the approval of the monarch (not that she ever said no)

They tend to be people with an outstanding record of public service (the GG is currently General David Hurley ex Chief of the Defence Force.) rather than politicians

I don’t know why everyone quotes Tony Blair as a possible President but why not ?
As too a pop star again why not ?
As long as they are people of good character what does it matter ?
They are supposed to be representing the people of the country so someone who knows a bit about the people they represent would be no bad thing .

You can’t please all of the people all of the time Muddy, and that is the problem with voting for a President. Frequently they are more interested in things going their way!
A Monarch cannot change what the government do, but they can advise & it makes a big difference!

Twink what do you mean by going their way ?
As the situation stands we have a government comprised of mainly one sector of society - the extremely well off and a Head of State who also represents wealth and privilege at the highest level .
There is nothing here that is representative of the average British person .
naturally both these entities will make sure that things go ‘theirway ‘ ie a way that is most profitable for them .
