Why the Monarchy Should Have Died With the Queen

deleted post by me, foot and mouth come to mind

Abolishing the monarchy would not erase Britain’s class divide, likewise a Republican government could not uphold the principles of equality and democracy.

Why not ?
How are the RF holding up the principles equality and democracy?
Most of Britain is not equal to them and in a democratic country an unelected obscenely rich family should not be allowed tax breaks not accessible to other citizens .

Well, they do very kindly let you plebeians vote for one of your parliaments don’t they? And they supply most of the people you are allowed to vote for too. You can’t expect to have democracy handed to you on a plate, sometimes you have to take it.

Choice Russia regime-North Korea regime or UK regime? I know which I would rather live under

Becoming a Republic will not change a thing. Monarchy and capitalism is as old as capitalism itself.

Strange I always think of France and Germany to name but two as capitalist countries .
They do not have monarchies

Perhaps it’s better to simply agree to disagree.

Nicola Sturgeon today received a frosty reception as she arrived for a historic city-making ceremony in Dunfermline.

The Scottish First Minister was loudly booed by parts of the crowd as she smiled and waved to fellow Scots outside Dunfermline City Chambers this morning.

Royal fans had gathered outside the 140-year-old council building to catch a glimpse of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla - who are also attending the event.

But there was a less than enthusiastic reception for Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who was loudly booed both on arrival and departure, much to her obvious embarrassment.

## King Charles tells crowds in Scotland ‘this would gladden my dear mother’s heart, as it certainly gladdens mine’ as he and Queen Consort Camilla are cheered at first official engagement since the end of royal mourning period

Plebs .

Where does the term pleb come from?

It comes from Roman times, when plebeians were any tribe without advisers to the King. In time, the word - which is related to the Greek word for crowd, plethos - came to mean the common people. It had a pejorative use back then, said Edith Hall, professor of classics at King’s College London.

I thought monarchy was more a feudal thing rather than capitalist.

Don’t forget to tug your forelock on the way out.

Vassal, royals will always have them to do their bidding regardless of how the country is governed.

Anyone can have hired help if they have the money to pay for it .
Vassals is a word from medieval times .

Not always, Charles I was a good foot shorter at the end of his reign than at its beginning. He’s a royal example to us all.
