Why the Monarchy Should Have Died With the Queen

Standard response training, just smile pleasantly and carry on, nothing for a microphone to overhear. Boris and Nigel would laugh out loud.

My post was in reply to this bit of your post:

I would have expected a ‘thank you Wendy for looking that up for me’

They were there to support different charities. If you think it’s correct to do something like that at that sort of event then you’re a completely different person to me. I think that debate is up to the Irish people, in the same way as the Brexit debate is up to the British people. If before Brexit a Brexiteer (I’m a Brexiteer) had done that at a charity event, I would have been just as disgusted.

Alas, I am afraid you will remain sorely disappointed. I still can’t see the relevance.

The Royal visit incorporated several visits to several places, including a general street “walk about” to “meet & greet” the general public.
The woman who made that comment about Ireland for the Irish was not at either of the charity venues they visited - she was in the crowd during a walkabout in the Antrim Road.

I agree that Irish re-unification is up to the Irish - the woman was Irish, speaking in her own country - I can’t see how politely saying what she thinks about it to a representative of the British Head of State is “spoiling it for the majority” - she was just politely saying how she felt about what she sees as a “foreign monarch” ruling over part of Ireland.
Recent polls suggest that less than 50% of the people surveyed from Northern Ireland say they would vote to remain in UK if there was a referendum - I know that’s a topic for another thread but my point was that it’s unfair to castigate the woman for “spoiling it for the majority” when she is voicing an opinion that many of her country folk agree with.

Boot that’s up to you to think that if you want to, but in my opinion she was wrong. There was probably more than her there who was of the same opinion as her, but had the decency not to voice it as knew it wasn’t the time or the place.

If the lady had used abusive language or had been personally insulting, I would have agreed it was out of order but she was neither -
Nice to meet you, but it would be better if it was when you were in your own country.
I thought her message was delivered politely and her words were delivered in a measured tone, in a manner that was suitable for the time and place.

So, yes, I agree, I can have a different opinion to you - it looks as if we shall have to agree to disagree on this one.

If that was t the time and the place when and where ?

I could never live in a place like that, all those rules would drive me bonkers. As for the yearly £4000, not a cat in hells chance.

Slow day at the Express

“While the expert said the corgis will not have understood that the Queen was in the coffin before them at the procession on Monday, they may be able to detect her scent and therefore feel her presence due to their extremely good sense of smell.”
All dogs can smell rotten meat.

What a load of Baldocks the Queen was in a lead lined coffin you can’t smell through lead lining plus a coffin flags etc .

The King:

Nigel didn’t laugh out loud after that milkshake! Or when he was heckled in Scotland and called them Nationalist scum :scream:

And Boris Johnson doesn’t deal with hecklers well at all either. He’s very satisfying because he reacts, gets cross and tries to abuse back…… I’ve been there when he’s tried that to look clever and made a complete ass of himself

It’s the ego you see, both of them have such a huge ego that they really can’t understand how anyone could possible dislike them.

So while they’d like to be the sort of person who could just laugh at it or smile and ignore, they just can’t help getting angry and reacting.

Perhaps someone ought to create a court circular thread on here, to give Wendeey somewhere to post the RF’s daily itineraries.:grin:

Deserves at least an accolade from the Daily Mail :grinning:

We could include such exciting news of the activities of the King’s representative on earth with such tidbits as:

On Tuesday 11 October 2022, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), accompanied by Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Zsolt Csenger-Zalán as the Ambassador of Hungary. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Katalin Csenger-Zalán, spouse; and Dr Diana Haszonics, Deputy Head of Commission.

He even has his own flag:

Then there are the State governors, King Charlie’s representatives on middle earth:

11th October 2022 - In the morning and in the afternoon, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, accompanied by Mr Dennis Wilson, conducted investiture ceremonies at Government House for men and women of New South Wales whose awards were announced in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Let’s not forget that there are five other state governors all beavering away on the King’s behalf, it could be the busiest thread on the forum.

I can feel the excited anticipation building already!
