Why the Monarchy Should Have Died With the Queen

I thought Bruce was thinking history might be repeated. No problem choosing a few to have vital bit disconnected, it would not be their head.

Another day of bringing joy into people’s lives:

Ok , bootlicker, flunky, minion, toady.

At a million per month so they darn well should do !
All I can say is people do t have much joy in their lives if they go dolally over a pair who don’t know them from Adam .

Quite honestly I despair of the British when I see such sycophantic rubbish
I mean, we are supposed to be the bastion of liberal democracy, the Magna Carta Oliver Cromwell and all that . So how can it be, that in 2022 when this country is under a disastrous failing government, and on the verge of a massive recession following Brexit, crap like this is spewed from that ghastly rag the DM .
The NHS is starved of cash but the sovereign grant is raised to refurb Buck house
The UK is only country in Europe where the royals are considered a sort of untouchable god given national treasure
Why are some ecstatic about a couple people performing basic human functions like walking about and even saying a royal hello to the peasants ?
When desperate monarchists will roll out that the old chestnut that royals contribute to the economy, as a justification for an institution that is promotes inequality , privilege ,and unearned deference .
No one mentions the Paradise Papers that revealed royal tax-dodging which deprived the public purse for years of many millions of pounds .
The whole set up oversees a class system enshrining massive wealth inequality due to an accident of birth in a supposedly democratic country .
I can only imagine it’s a distraction for the peasants who will be filled with joy at Kate cooing at a baby ( hers are with the nanny ) while they crouch in front of a candle in a flower pot eating beans on toast this winter .

You forgot to add the bit @wendeey where she was told to get back to her own country, and that Ireland was for the Irish.

If you don’t like the Daily Mail article then here’s a few more to pick from. And if you had read the actual article they went to an assortment of different charities.

https://www.itv.com/news/utv/2022-10-06/will-and-kate-arrive-in-ni-for-first-visit-as-prince-and-princess-of-wales

There’s loads take your pick:

Charles often comes to his town Poundbury and wanders around meeting the better off peasants that can afford to live on his estate , the one he is still designing , it’s becoming huge and unaffordable to many . I wouldn’t put myself out to stand and wave or watch as he and Camilla come and gaze at each new development . I checked out some apartments for over 60s in Queen Mothers Square one bedroom selling at £4 or £500 00 thousand with maintenence costs and ground rent up to £4 K a year .

Must say its nicely developed though and roads named after the Queens horses . No sky dishes allowed and an alloted time only for bins out on bin day , oh and no long washing lines allowed , only small whirly ones and must be taken down when not in use . Garden sheds are allowed but only to a specific size and permission must be granted .

Why would I want to read fawning articles that insult my intelligence.?

Yup I heard about that and thought to myself there’s always one who wants to spoil it for the majority. If you really want me to post it instead of you doing it for yourself, here it is:

The article isn’t fawning about them. It’s discussing the charities they visited, but if you’re not interested in charities, then that’s fine by me, takes all sorts.

I am interested in the charities that I GIVE too.
I don’t need a couple of multi millionaires to make me interested and nor should anyone else .

I didn’t post it myself because I’d read it already and it just made me think the woman was a sour puss who waited there all that time just to say that to them. I’m not a RF fan, but I wouldn’t bother standing in a crowd to tell them that

And for those who don’t like the Daily Mail this should please them, it sure pleased me:

Well you were of the same view as me then so can’t see the reason for you posting the post that you did. I’ve got the radio on so heard it on there, if I’d seen the article it’s not one I’d have clicked on, because it’s not something I’m interested in. So I googled an article so I could post it on here, just for you

Well thank you, I appreciate it. I posted it because it relates to the title of this thread, and balances out all the “If it wasn’t for the monarchy…” posts :joy:

Doesn’t help at all, the arbitrary division of a part of a state by some medieval religion is hardly an excuse for the Mail Online to call a state a province.

I thought what the lady said was very polite, compared to what has been said to British soldiers and to me when I lived there on an army camp!

I have some sympathy for the lady’s point of view - quite a lot of folk in Northern Ireland would prefer to re-unite Ireland and those numbers are increasing. I don’t think someone telling the heir to the throne or his wife that they would prefer Irish Unification is “spoiling it for the majority” - the RF have these walkabouts to “connect with the people”, so I presume they want to know what “the people” really think - otherwise they are just paying lip service to the job.

I suppose it depends on how strongly you feel about an issue though.

I think dissenters are good for our society and make a refreshing change from all the fawning. Plus it’s good for the Royal Family and other “leaders” to hear the uncensored truth about what people think of them

I’d stand in a crowd to tell Boris Johnson or Nigel Farage what I think of them
