Shaz darlin’ - check out the photos I posted on my profile from the Holiday last year - there are photos of the Ascos Beach hotel itself and the view I had from the balcony of my room.
not decided yet, we will most likely look for a last minute deal
but i won’t complain if hubby surprises me again like last year
Just looked at your Photo’s Uncle Joe, looked like a very nice place you stayed at. Was it in Coral Bay or outside, there are quite a few hotels between Paphos and Coral Bay.
Shaz darlin’ - yes the Ascos Beach hotel is at Coral Bay. The beach is not that good - very rocky, but as you can see there is a very large outdoor swimming pool, there is also an indoor one too. The hotel serves all buffet meals, so one takes a plate from the stack at the end of the line and walk along the trays of food and help yourself - you can have as little or as much () as you want. There is a full entertainment programme every eveining, wine is served with both luch and dinner and whilst watching the entertainment the waiters and waitresses are circulating and serving cocktails too - all of which are included in the price one pays for the holiday.
Just back from a week in Mallorca, walking and lazing with lots of books. Nothing else planned til September, when I’m going diving.
Chippy, if your Irish roaming reaches Bantry you are welcome to call in here!
My daughter is getting married there (Pathos) in
2014 please let me know how it all went as I so much want her to get married here but it is what she really wants so I won’t stop her but my hubby won’t go as disabled and doesn’t fancy the flight so I will have to go it alone but will have friends and family there …
Suey darlin’ - go look at my profile photos - on there you will find photographs of the hotel I stayed in at Coral Bay - on the outskirts of Paphos. Its a beautiful part of the world - I promise!!!
I will let you know how it goes Suey. She has a wedding coordinator. Doing the arrangements in Cyprus. Lot of e-mailing . So fingers crossed everything goes well.
Going on a short break
My nephew is getting married on 23 rd of may, so am looking forward to it, I will be away 4 days, trying to stay up late to get some practise in, as Irish weddings, are a 2 day affair. Last wedding I was at was in 2007 so am so looking forward to this one.
Have you missed the Wedding
My last holiday was almost four years ago, just six weeks after Gordon died. I almost didn’t go, but I was pushed into it.
Anyway, not being a seasoned air traveller, I wore the worst trousers in the world for travelling. They had lots of studs, zips and other metal bits, and I sounded the alarms off going through the wotsit. I didn’t know what I’d done wrong.
Well, I didn’t know!
Anyway, they let me through at Manchester but, on arrival at Philadelphia the same thing happened again, but this time handguns were taken out of holsters. Well, I couldn’t take me trousers off, so I was searched. I felt so stupid and believe me, in America, their security is much more stringent than ours.
Coming back, I wore clothing with no metal parts, and sent my hand luggage through on the conveyor belt thingy. They stopped me, and sent it through again. My handbag was inside the larger bag, but once again they sent it through the check.
Well, I didn’t know!
Once more handguns were taken out, but this was in St Louis this time, and the security told me they had to search my bags. I told them to go ahead as I had nothing to hide, but I still felt terrified.
What it was, was, I’d put some camera batteries in my handbag, in my hold-all, which caused a blockage or summat with the x-ray machine, preventing them to see what was in my bags!
Well, I didn’t know!
It could only happen to a Mollie! My friend was in pleats laughing at me, but it wasn’t bluddy funny at the time!
You crack me up Mollie. I was in pleats too.
Oh Mollie! I’d have been shaking!
I plan to go camping with my sister and her husband and my niece. This year I may take my grandson too. We love Algonquin Park in northern Ontario.
This is the beach at Canisbay Lake. From here we paddle by canoe to a campsite, about 30 minutes if it’s calm.

Holidays so far in 2012
I have had a couple of holidays this year. In February I spent a few weeks driving around Tasmania which was very interesting if a bit expensive. During the trip I drove about 4000Km not including the car ferry trip

May I spent driving up to North Queensland into the tropics to have a look at the Undara Lava Tubes and exploring Central Queensland and northern NSW. For that trip I drove just over 6000km - thank gawd for cruise control.

This is the first year for a long time that I haven’t been overseas but it was still a very enjoyable time and made a change from the deserts of central Australia that I visited a couple of years ago.
Isn’t retirement great? Wouldn’t be dead for quids eh?
I have a touring caravan which my son tows for me so 4 wks at Inglewhite only about 50 miles from where I live but a different world. Weather was good, food was excellent (mostly cooked by us, slow cooker was a boon) end of June going to Somerset for 1 wk staying with a friend, then September back to Inglewhite for another 4 wks.
Great photos Bruce!
Nice photo’s Bruce.
I like the old buildings in the Queensland photo.
‘Our’ Hazel’s going for the scrumpy!!!
certainly am UJ amongst other things ;-)
lovely scenery down there I believe. I’m being taken on a guided tour.
You crack me up Mollie. I was in pleats too.
What I don’t understand is why they would draw a gun because an alarm was set off, it happens all the time in every airport. My camera, with batteries included, have gone through X-ray without problems being caused on more than one occasion.
