What’s the most boring sport, and what would you do to make it more exciting?

Hopscotch anyone?

hopscotch gets my vote.

EDIT … I mean, hopscotch, what fun!

Basketball is the most boring sport for me. The players are 6 1/2 feet tall or more, with long arms and legs. Running back and forth on the court takes them no time, long arms shooting the ball into the hoop is no great feat, no challenges at all. Then, let’s do it again, and again and again until the buzzer times out.
Yawn…

So funny to watch. Thank you for posting this. :slightly_smiling_face:

Motor racing - A few speed bumps might make it more interesting.

Curling. Sliding stones on a sheet of ice. Chess on ice. Amusingly pointless.

my first love was boxing, but it hurts, even when your good at it the other bugger still hits you… then its football, i played till i was 40 i ran with the grace of a Giraffe , then i took up match fishing but when i was sixty some scroates stole all my gear, so a friend dragged me screaming onto a golf course…lol… it was like the miracle of the wine, i saved the best till last… i was at a party with my last ex-wife and someone commented on my tan [i still pleasure fish as well as golf] my ex told them i played golf and an old guy about ten years younger than me spouted ‘a good walk wasted’ now i admit i wasnt enjoying the said party, so i asked him how long was it since he had a good walk, spoiled or other wise, he said ‘i’m an angler’ so i said ‘a worm at one end and a wanker at the other’ [ok i am a big lad] he slunk away about five minutes later, oh i forgot snooker…lol… but i dont decry any participant sport…if it gets you off your bum then its great…golf is special because you can play it at any age, as is fishing, but i do agree with Maree… naked tennis could have its own TV channel…

I think most sports could have an added ‘It’s a Knock Out’ element. What about football in those giant costumes or cricket scoring runs carrying buckets of water!

I’d rate horse dressage one of the most boring to watch!

You can also turn it round and say that any sport that you don’t like will never be interesting to you. I’ve never thought much of ball games played in teams in general and soccer in particular. To my mind, it’s a myth that those games help develop team-building skills. They rather provide a platform for the loudest and/or dominant players who can blame others if the team fails.

It’s a common and embarrassing practice starting at school-level to let the allegedly best players choose the members of their team in gym classes segregating all those who are considered not good enough to be part of the team of 11 players. Often it helps those choosers to settle some outstanding scores and it’s hell for those who are chosen last or not at all and are thus ostracised. And at premier league or World Cup level you can find the same pattern when individual players are made to bear the full blame for defeat partly by team members and partly by the audience who consider this to be part of their specific fan culture, a milieu I never wanted to be exposed to. I remember the Champions League’s final some time ago and the tragedy of Liverpool’s goalie. The scorn heaped on him including threats of murder would never be possible in sports where only the individual performance counts and nothing else. That’s chiefly the reason why I have always done individual sports throughout my life.
Don’t know how to make these team games more exciting. The best solution for me is to give them a wide berth.

Dressage, I love … next best thing after a Portuguese bullfight. Magnificent horses.

Golf. So boring (in my opinion).

My suggestion to improve it would be to replace it with Knur and Spell, especially the version shown at around 1 minute 50 s.

Another variant involves a wooden peg balanced on another peg on the ground so it sits at an angle like a see-saw. The idea is to whack the raised end hard enough for it to spin up into the air, then belt it downfield as far as you can.

I also think a lot of sports could be made more interesting by replacing them all with a game of Dwyle Flunking, also known as Dwile Flonking.

Curling has to be the the most boring sport ever , all that brushing with brooms ……give them Dyson cordless

Totally agree with you, Rips. I have started watching a match but lasted about 12 minutes.

I wish I lived in Norfolk. :star_struck:

@Bretrick Darts must be the most boring and egocentric ‘sport’ ever to be screened on TV. It’s just a load of beer bellied geezers out on their own ego trip with just a winner’s cup and a load of dosh in mind. Even worse is the overly loud crowd shouting for their man to win … oh yes, very adult!
Give me the egg chasers any day👍
