What qualities attract you to a man / woman

Actually I agree animals are good company I might get another rescue cat …as long as my kids would agree to give it a home if I popped my clogs

Well, mine was a pretty good description of my current old man, but don’t tell him or he’ll get get big headed

It’s only like my first husband, who I fell head over heels in lust with, as far looks go. He was a right drama llama, not easy going at all, always arguing with someone and not kind

And I did fall mostly for his looks, his flirting and his confidence

Perhaps what attracts us changes with age and experience?

Years ago when I was single, in between husbands, I figured out what to watch for when going out with gals to a bar or to a dance.

Never try to get the attention of the best looking guy in the room. He knows he is, and usually works the room for the best looking gal to impress.

Don’t try for the second best looking guy in the room. He knows he’s gotta try harder, but still will rely on his looks and charm, not his personality.

Go for the third nicest looking guy in the room. He realizes the more shallow women are preoccupied, and he only has his nice traits and honesty to show the rest of the room. I mostly enjoyed getting to know this type of man.

Still do, if I’m honest. And, I’m always honest.

You’re lucky to even find three handsome men in one room, Righty.

I’ve been on my own for about 20 years now Muddy, and can’t imagine anything changing at this time of my life somehow.

I have lived by myself for 14 years, and quite enjoy the quiet at the end of the day.
That said, I meet others almost every single day, whether it’s at the supermarket, a lunch meet up, shopping, or the local park where I walk several times a week. Interactions are stimulating, pleasurable, and always welcome.
Still, I enjoy my alone time, and hope it will continue. I certainly am not looking to start cooking, cleaning, and taking care of another at this time in my life. Been there, done that… :grinning:

For the life of me I can’t think of what attracted me to V - it was so many things all at once that knocked my socks straight off and I fell head over heels  on our 1st date.

Definitely not!

That is a long time Mups but you were married for a long time too .I wonder how it is for people who have never married or had children . A life time of being alone .

I think eye contact would be my first attraction, if a woman was to pay particular attention to me, laughing at my jokes, and enjoying my anecdotes and stories, regardless of looks or shape, she would get my attention. It worked with Mrs Fox fifty years ago, and I can still make her laugh…

I don’t know, Muddy, but there other ways of of looking at that question too.

Firstly, it depends on whether they chose to stay single and not be dependent on anyone else for their happiness. Maybe a career minded male or female who never wanted commitment and/or babies.
Or someone who once loved and lost, and so choose to never go through that hurt again.

We may feel it is so sad to have never had a spouse and kids, but I think it depends on whether these people feel unloved and left out, or whether they have always had plenty of friends, siblings, and lovers, and actually wanted it that way.

However, for someone who had always dreamed of finding love and having a family, and living happily ever after, but it never happened for them, then that is very different. To be old and lonely is so sad
