What keeps you going to get/stay fit at an older age?

there are vertical blinds pretending not to overlook me. It’s more my own paranoia.

Thank you for looking inwards, that is refreshing.

It’s very popular here,a lot of Aussies do it including my BH.I can’t ,I think I must have sensitive feet :grinning:

If I did that in the garden OGF it might earth me to gifts from the doggie! Presumably you can get the same effect walking on your kitchen tiles on a concrete floor?

Lifting a pint a day keeps the Dr away. Amazing arm exercise

Eugh! Bad enough when I return home from a walk and it’s stuck to the sole of my shoe. I’m always careful when I’m out, but at this time of years doggie doos get obscured by the fallen leaves…
Fortunately dog walkers are very good around here and it’s quite rare.

I’m not sure about the floor tiles Annie, ceramics and concrete make very good insulators and neither hold moisture like a lawn does. All houses have an earthing rod for their electrical systems. They used to use the lead water pipe coming out of the ground but now all the water pipes are plastic so they use an earthing rod. In times of drought some people have to throw a bucket of water over the rod to keep it grounded or else the earth on the ring main becomes ineffective.

When I weighed 290, I was motivated to get fit by 2 arthritic knees and my dad being in a wheelchair at age 70. I didn’t want to end up like that so I decided to get fit. Now, at 225, what motivates me is the slim hope that every hour I spend in the gym and eating clean improves my dating potential. It may or may not be true, but the hope that it’s true is what’s keeping me consistent nowadays.

I walk at least a mile everyday in under 18 minutes. Do all of my own vacumning, dusting , mopping floors, etc so plenty of stooping, bending, stretching daily. My body is my own, no shoulder pain, replaced hips or knees, and very active. I have taken care of myself eating healthy, keeping mobile, and it has served me well.
I’m very lucky, also only have a cold every five years or so, hardly ever sick at all. Great immune system, for someone in their mid seventies. Hope it continues.
