What have you done today?

I once had to look after a parrot for a neighbour whilst they were on holiday…it used to look forward to my daily visits…he was so vicious it was such a scary experience…I never volunteered to do it again it was an evil little thing you could tell he enjoyed scaring me

Took my prescription to the doctors, did a little shopping, had breakfast in Wetherspoons.

That’s was a good outcome for the parrot :parrot:

Interesting characters these birds. I’ll be sure to keep a safe distance.

Not a lot but I didn’t do it three times so I can’t be accused of being lazy.

Spent Saturday afternoon at the Talbot Athletic Ground watching Newport beat Aberavon for the third time in a row away and fifth time in a row at all venues!

Spend half an hour trying to get through to the doctors and then 20 minutes on hold as you move up the queue!
All because the annual blood tests the surgery insist I book before my next prescription are not an option on MyHealthOnline!
Crazy system

Summat I’ve been putting off for about a week. I’ve replaced the diamond stylus in the pick-up arm of the transcription deck :+1:

Report the surgery to your area CCG. That’s medical blackmail an could affect your emotional state and well being; they have a duty of care and all that billhooks

They tell us to use My Health Online then don’t offer enough options!
I don’t even know most of the doctors (and my practice is a training one) at my surgery.
Wasn’t always the case.

Most practices are used for training since the last government initiative . . or in my words, doctors on the cheap😡
This lot have lost the plot and need to be completely sorted out :+1:

They have even made it more difficult to order prescriptions.
The Pharmacy used to do it automatically.
All we had to do was turn up once a month to collect our prescriptions.
But the surgery stopped that.
Then they stopped us ordering them via e-mail.
We have to use My Health Online(which I have nothing but trouble with) or take the prescription to the surgery.
Where we have to leave it in a box on the wall outside.
You have to lift the lid to deposit the prescription.
It isn’t locked.
Anyone could come along and steal the lot!
And a local surgery they took over when a doctor retiredhad a terrible report
recently.
And when I booked my flu jab online last Autumn I was sent to the wrong surgery.
You couldn’t make it up.

You’ve got me a bit dewy eyed… Fidelity Record Players.

I think I remember a UA1 just a turntable /radio with big speakers and then the UA 2,smaller speakers but with a cassette and radio ???

I’m wrong,it was the UA5.

Had to buy a new telly, as my one died and was too old for repair.
Arranged for some builders to come in to do some work on the house.
Arranged another studio photo shoot for a few weeks time.
Run some errands for my sister-in-law
Clean the car
Shop around for a new camera

(And someone said to me retirement should be a relaxing time)

Today we had a long walk. First it was to the pharmacy. Then to post office for stamps. Then posted some letters for the mailbox. Then the long walk home. Almost two hours in total. It’s good for us and for the dog.

I came across a 12v power supply. I think I built it originally to power a burglar alarm and it has been modified a few times over the years. It is probably 30 years old, uses a transformer to supply the lower voltage and keeps a lead acid battery charged in case of a mains failure.

At some time in the past I had modified it to also supply 9v (can’t remember why), anyway pulled it to pieces, rewired some of it, got rid of the 9volts and will potentially use it in conjunction with a spare deep cycle lead acid battery I have in the garage.

Also came across the voltage booster I built for a distributor/coil ignition system - from memory on my HJ Holden, I recall it worked very well with any spark gap but useless these days however I kept it just in case.

Apart from that excitement I haven’t done that much today, it has been overcast and cool (24°), though it hasn’t rained, washed a few clothes to hang in the car port after going out for my walk this morning.
