Bit the bullet and set in motion the transfer of my phone service from one provider to an other. Because I wanted to transfer my number the website said that it could take up to 4 to 24 hours to be activated.
Anyway I went ahead, filled in all the ID information (no unidentified SIM cards in Australia) then my old number and provider. The instructions told me not to insert the SIM card until they had emailed me that the old line had been transferred.
Immediately after completing this I picked up the phone to check the acknowledgement email and the phone reported, âno Wifiâ - I use the phone data because I have so much of it.
Turned on wifi, my phone went âBingâ to say I had email. The email said that my phone line was active. From finishing the application to receiving the email must have been 30 seconds and most of that 30 seconds was spent turning on the phoneâs wifi.
Anyway bunged in the new SIM card and, sure enough, I could make and receive calls on my old number with the new provider.
So much for a 4 to 24 hour wait! Amazing how quick this technology is.
Just got off the phone after talking to a lovely girl at ServiceNSW who filled in my application for my $50 accommodation/travel voucher. There is a bug in the app which keeps saying that your details are not complete but she can do it at her end.
I had to laugh, she played me a recording of the terms and conditions including a legal warning about fraud, you know, all the stuff you never read but click âOKâ to anyway.
The end result is that the voucher will pop up in my ServiceNSW app within the hour as well as a printable copy sent to my email account.
It was so easy, in fact the hardest part was negotiating the menu at the start of the call. ServiceNSW deals with everything to do with the state government, driving licence, covid testing, boat and car rego, tourism etc so it was about 4 levels deep but once I got to the vouchers the call was answered in a few seconds.
Found a âLong Bodied Cellar Spiderâ walking up my garage door! Silly thing was quite near the lock and I was worried it would be hurt when the door closed - so I suggested a move, with my help, to the rafters - it seemed happy with that idea.
Just back from trip to the tip. Small victory on way homeâŠaudi tailgatimg me (I was doing 30mph in a 30 zone). He pulled out to try and overtake, but had to slam his brakes on and fall back behind me due to him not spotting an oncoming bus. Few seconds later, he swerved, accelerated up to probably 40 and instantly got done by a speeding camera. He had to stop at the next set of lights, and I (tortoise to his hare) pulled up next to him, and I smiled at him while he glared at me. When the lights changed, I calmly took off and turned right, while he managed to stall his engine.
Had a small accident in the car this morning, not paying attention I bumped into the rear of a car at the traffic lights, I got out out and went to towards the other car where a dwarf was getting out, he said, â I am not happyâ âWhich one are you?â I replied, thatâs when the fight started.
Actually a busy day, attended my seniorsâ club AGM, ended up with the job of Vice President and actually chairing the meeting after the election. Not a role I sought, personally I donât think I am suitable for this role, I am OK chairing meetings but as the face of the club you have to be nice to people you donât know, definitely not my forte. I was pleased that someone else wanted to be President but he was taken to hospital yesterday so unable to attend (a bit of a worry).
Spent the afternoon packing to drive to Canberra tomorrow for a weekend dog sitting, lots of warm clothes involved.
At 6pm wandered down to the club to have dinner with my ex daughter from my first marriage, I even met some of her old school friends from 40 years ago though frankly I only vaguely remember them. In the event we got on like a house on fire, had a great chat, lovely meal and a few drinks.
So today was take the clothes back day, shop for yet more dresses, order yet more shoes online (as the other ones âdonât matchâ). Search for another handbag because the last one doesnât âgoâ with the last dress she bought and âcanât decide if my hair needs doingâ day.
As I spend yet many more hours outside fitting rooms and shops listening to my braincells die a slow death!
Just a good long walk - it was a bit cooler. We met a few dogs with people. A couple of them were a bit barky and the owners keep them on a lead but no problem with his nibs.
