What have you done today?

Had a long with Max before it got too warm. My wife had a visit to the Osteopath then went the mall. Then we had a light lunch. And that’s it.

My mum used to say that
Did you know there’s a dermalogical condition known as “pickers nodule”??

Hi

Paula has taken me out to Lidl.

You have got to love her.

No frame, no walking stick, me just leaning on the trolley.

Let loose, my biggest ever spend at Lidl, £199.99.

That included 64 bars of chocolate at £1.49 a bar and 38 at £1.39 a bar.

I will deliver them all, personally, to Resus, AMU and
Ward 24 and the Porters and Housekeeping.

I will completely ignore the rules about handing them in at Reception so they can be shared out, the frontline never see them.

Handover is 7pm to 7 30 pm, so I can get two shifts at once.

All great fun.

They deserve a little reward.

next dolor is having their patio cleaned which is fine, but having the guy doing in putting all his stuff on our lawn and a petrol pressure washer right against our loung wall is not on. Apart from the noise this vibration etc, being annoying, so I went around and had a word. Guess what a foreigner who doesn’t respect other peoples property was doing the cleaning.
why the neighbours (again she is a foreigner) can’t do their own beats me and cut off plant leaf and top off my lilly of the valley.

taken only yesterday and where the guy jammed a water butt and pressure washer against our house wall

today top sliced off and large leaf gone no apology or even a sorry… don’t these foreigners get taught manners

Nearly finished gutting out the Kitchen, got fed up so I went out for an hour and a half on one of the leccy bikes.

Had a shower. Cleansheeted bed. Put all washing in machine. Paid a bill online. Too hot to sit outside while I am still not feeling 100%. 28.5c in my south facing sheltered garden.

Two lines of washing out in the sunshine.

I am in post-retirement mode at the moment, having left my job after 44 years and have a bundle of stuff on my ‘to do’ list, most of which involves money and buying a new car. After that, I have a house I need to decorate from top to bottom, then I want to set up a business and studio for photography and loads more besides. But having just finished work, I have this constant nagging feeling I have to get up and get ready to go into work tomorrow and find myself unconsciously thinking about work stuff I would normally do. Life is going to take some getting used to.

When I retired I was told by an ex-mental nurse that, in about 6-7 months after retirement, I would feel as though I had hit a brick wall once I had completed my own “to do” list. And so it transpired. One morning, I woke up and it suddenly dawned on me that I didn’t have to get up, have a shower and get dressed in my working clothes, oh, and the phone hadn’t rung with someone from the office wanting me to explain some niche area of rubber technology. Depressing thoughts for all of a week then I discovered the joys of retirement.

Been shopping - not a joyful experience - hot, humid, and horrid!

It’s all on the internet now of course. But best go incognito.

Know how you feel Graham. What bugs me even now is if I had the finances it would not be too hard to convert my garage which is 45ft long and19ft wide. That would be garaging for 3 cars and a third as a workshop. Then put a second story room as a studio with staicase from the workshop. Even add an overhead enclosed gantry to the house first floor landing. Load of potential but too old now and not enough money in the pot so to speak
One really should prepare for retirement not let it hit you like a brick wall. Take up a new or lapsed hobby several months beforehand so you have some sort of continuation in your life.
That is what I did anyway with photography

Been to an International Yoga Day meet.
Just a small local ‘do’ this year, because it was decided not to hold the huge main event yet because of Covid still.

Then shopping on the way home, and then a bit more gardening.

Mups
Did you mange that Yoga move where you put your legs behind you neck?

Hah, not quite, but I’m working on it. image

Been for 2 very long walks, a 3hr walk this morning and a 90min walk in the beautiful evening sundown. Loki is exhausted too. I have a feeling I won’t be able to get put of bed in the morning with achy muscles.

What a wonderful day it was today.

Had a good walk around RHS Rosemore yesterday , gave the boss some ideas.

Opened both eyes - so far.

Dog walking. Met yet another four legged friend for life.

It’s been many a year since I was a self employed courier…Waiting for the phone to ring with an urgent job while showering or eating breakfast and having to dash out to the van.
Even now when my mobile rings my heart skips a beat thinking that I should be on my way to London or Southampton and I realise that it’s all behind me now and I can stand down. I must change the ringtone of my phone…

I finally re-greased the second wheel on my teardrop camper! Now it is happily sitting on its own wheels ready for the next adventure.

The delay was because the bearing seals locally had become hard to get. I bought replacements on line so now have enough for the next couple of years (unless I stuff up again)
