Planted a few seeds in trays on the windowsill, I will think about setting a couple of rows of parsnips in one of the raised beds this week if it stays mild ā€¦ says he optomisticallyā€¦ :grinning:

Pruned an early Clematis, then made an unpleasant discovery - looks like rats have moved in under my shed.
My dogs have been telling me there was something amiss for the last couple if weeks, I should have listened to them!

Started cutting down the old stems of the Japanese anemones in the front garden. Couldnā€™t do a lot still got to wait for the bin to get emptied on Friday.

I looked at it from the kitchen window. It looks bleak at the moment but when those trees come into bloom it will be lovely! Canā€™t wait to plant some flowers in it. (Excuse the bin area!)

Not today itā€™s been raining all day but just stopped. Got this video on what sort of materials go into compost mixes.

Ive been clearing and cleaning the Greenhouse, found a few jumping insects that eat the leaves , so gave them a spray of fly killer seem to have done the trick .
Ive pre orderd double Buzy Lizzies plug plants , they should arrive in late March, im hoping the green house is not harbouring any other harmful insects .

Non-stop rain here, with 2 more storms forecast for Wednesday and Friday.

Not looking forward on this peat-free compost being forced on us soon. I havent seen one single good write up on it yet.
Apparently each brand varies considerably, and the makers are not labelling it to make it clear what it contains.
Some is barely taking water even, water wonā€™t carry down to plant roots. Many young plants are dying under research conditions.

Producers have had long enough to get their mixes and labelling right, and it shouldnt be on sale to the public until it is!

Got my 3 propagators down from upstairs and put them in the conservatory, turned one on to warm up some compost. Potted on 9 rooted geranium cuttings and some rooted cuttings of eurigeron.

A brief respite from the rain today so I got the rest of my big hedges cut before the the next lot of stormy weather stops me - it was a lot of hard work on a cold and breezy day but I had to get them trimmed and tidied up before the birds start nesting in them again.

Sowed the chillie and Snapdragon seeds and potted up 9 lily bulbs in 3 pots

Checked for cats needing shelter from the weather though it is not as bad as was forecast.
