Nothing today it’s been raining.
No action just planning and looking
Im experimenting with Lavateria Seeds , they may take now , if not i shall try again in spring .
Cleared a border of cosmos and Snapdragons, potted some of the Snapdragons up to see if they’ll be ok for next year.
Started planting wallflowers, tulips and foxgloves in a border, haven’t finished it, it started raining.
Topdressed the lawn with 10 bags of compost and ten pounds of new seed to repair the damage from the summer drought. Just got finished and the heavens opened, perfect…
I haven’t done much today due to the weather, but yesterday I cut back the huge elderberry bush (which I discovered is on its last legs anyway), and ordered a big fork from Amazon to attempt to dig it all out before the ground hardens.
not alot
Hi
Not in the garden but garden related.
Searching for perennial vegetables and unusual veg seeds to buy
Nothing, it has rained all day!
@swimfeeders Kalettes; Kale Candy Floss; Squash (Summer) Sunburst and also Squash (Winter) Mashed Potato (mash like normal potatoes but fraction of the calories. all brought from Fothergills
Just gathered up 4 large almost too heavy to carry plastic commercial size bags of acorns. At least the lawn looks a bit better. Did run out of petrol for the leaf blower though
Barry my lawn looks like a wavy sea due to underlying clay would this be a solution ?
We have very sandy soil Muddy that drains very quickly and therefore dries out very quickly, in theory clay should stay moist for much longer but the drought this year has been extreme, so I guess we are all in the same boat now! Anyway, Rosemary located some American lawn seed that has extra long roots, so we’ve top dressed the bare patches and overseeded the entire area hoping the new grass will hang on in there for longer if we get another long drought. We have around 500 Square metres of lawn so watering is a nono and we have to rely on the rain so we thought it may be the best solution.
Regarding the wavyness of your lawn I can’t help you, apart from filling in the dips and reseeding, really I couldn’t think of a cause nor a solution other than that!
I have been told it’s because if the clay which contracts and expands in the dry some of the roads here have sunk nearly a foot .
The grass is ok though we don’t water it . I will get some compost and fill in the hollows
We carted the tomato plants out to the green bin - they were done for the year.
Same same, picked the last of the toms today.
I rebuilt the drystone wall l destroyed the other day !
That was it !
Yesterday finished planting the border up and started on another border but just pulled the plants up and started weeding.
planted 8 sets of tulips in containers
mended a hosepipe
Mrs M mowed the lawns and is now turning the compost (better brew up for her)
