I have five water butts, three of them are linked together plus two others. Butt, (see what I did there) during our extremely hot summer months they still become empty very quickly. No water meter here. After numerous visits from the wet people they gave up looking for the stop cock.

I’ve got 5 slender water butts and it’s not enough in the summer. One winter I kept filling up 4 pt milk containers with the water to use in the next summer. I use it just for the 25 potted blueberries, but they can manage on tap water for a while.

I keep my four watering cans filled from the butts all the while the butts contain water. That way I usually manage to stay ahead for part of the summer at least.

Weeding around the path where the wallflowers were and pulling up some of the leaves from the spring bulbs, I put a lot of it in the 3 compost bins but there’s too much of it and i haven’t got room for another.

In 10 mins I will be outside clearing 2 x 12ft window boxes of dead tulips and daffodils. Not going to replant until we get back from hols because they will need watering and can’t guarantee son will do it.

Nothing today it’s raining but that’s great for the garden and it needs it.

Tidied up and repotted all of my succulents.

This morning I went round the garden picking up all the paper and plastic bottles that had come out of the recycling bin which blew over and spilled its contents in the 90kph icy winds of yesterday and last night. I have wedged the bin against one of the fence posts because the winds are not forecast to die down until Thursday morning (tomorrow).

Started planting out the pot marigolds in the front garden around the path, we had a lot of rain but can’t tell that from the soil it’s still very dry.

Yes, the soil is bone dry here too, Logan.
I finally got my Cosmos planted out today, along with some Penstemons, but I’m going to have to keep watering them and hope they survive.

Tomorrow I must get on with loads of weeding in the back flowerbeds, plus get my runner beans out of their pots and into the ground as they have outgrown the pots now.

It always amazes me how the bloomin’ weeds still continue to thrive in droughts, heatwaves, cold, and even snow! :rage:

Yes @Mups the weeds still grow don’t they?
I’ve still got cosmos to plant next week, but they’ve starting to flower and I’ve got to do a lot of weeding to get them in.

Picked my first strawberry today. It was delish.

Which variety was your strawberry, Maver-rik?
Can you remember?

I chucked my few plants out because there was hardly any taste at all.
Can’t recall the name though.

Today I pulled up loads of weeds and dead-headed my perennial Geraniums, a few Roses, and my gorgeous Pinks.
Watered various things, then went over to my favourite garden centre for some more compost and a couple more tubs. Also bought a couple of Campanulas.

Still got some Salvias to plant, and a few more Penstemons plus the runner beans which I STILL haven’t got done.

Also got one of the dogs to clip too. :dog2:

Looked out of the window at it. Well it is only 5.30am

The strawberry I had yesterday was from Pegasus, I also have a variety called Red Gauntlet, I bought both of these from a local garden centre about 6 weeks ago. I have another strawberry plant that I have had for about four years, but that isn’t flowering yet, plus a couple of alpine strawberry plants that I am growing from seed.
