loadsa new plants bought today, need to find somewhere to plant them
Share pics when complete please
okiesā¦
Watered the blueberries and beetroot seedlings, did a bit of pruning the currant bushes.
Iām not sure if this is the right place for this but Iāve treated these two exactly the same and one for some reason is just about deadā¦no idea what I did wrong ?
Any ideas?
Spent my time for about a week or so taking out a hedge and laying some lawn
Iām not sure either but have you checked the roots? It might have Vine weevil eating the roots.
I agree with Logan tip the plant out on a bag ,and look for maggot type grubs .
I donāt much like the look of themā¦ I will take a look at the roots tomorrow. I suppose if I find thats the problem I should destroy it so it doesnt spread to other plants or is there another solution?
Summer, if you find any weevals, ( they have little brown heads), destroy them.
Next, wash the roots of your plants under running water to get rid of anymore that might be lurking amongst the roots.
If they have eaten too much of the roots itās probably already too late to save the plant, but if they have only just started, I would drench the soil with a vine weeval killer, whether it be a natural nematode or a chemical one. See here:
Good luck.
P.S. Donāt suppose the pot has just dried out with the lack of rain, as it?
Hi
Just finished watering, the Polytunnel is doing well.
Loads of planting out to do soon.
The only thing different in care between them is the one dying blew over in the storms we had earlier this year and broke its pot so I re-potted itā¦actually the roots looked ok when I did thatā¦maybe its shockā¦can plants be shocked
Iāll check the roots laterā¦pouring down here right now.
released two hedgehogs in our garden from the rescue centre last evening, one male, one female
Thats interesting Macy, how did you manage to get them released in your garden , ?
Love these little creatures and was upset when I moved and had to leave my hedgehog house behind as it had occupants.
Eliza we have had hedgehogs for years, in 2020 we found a poorly one and took it to the local rescue centre who nursed it back to health and came and released it in our garden. When they realised what size of garden we have and the wild areas they kept our phone number and since then they have released 3 more
