What have you done in the garden today?

Similar story for me. A long while in hospital. A full recovery won’t happen.

Nothing today it’s too cold.

ive been in the Green house , potting on the Petunias that arrived (60)
they were in plugs no more than the size my little finger , I was expecting something bigger ,

I was surprised how warm it was in there , so they will be kept in there and covered at night for extra warmth.

Bought 4 Growbags, yesterday & a dozen “MoneyMaker” Tomato plants.

Cleared out the greenhouse & ready to go.

Only concern is that I could have bought a million ready to eat tomatoes for the money it cost to get all this stuff.

Still, it’s a project, what the heck!

Ooops, forgot to get the support canes, and the fertiliser juice!

@Tedc , I use to tell my Hubby , that we could buy and save on the expense of growing them , but he thought they would taste better …
… … …
So today in the garden I have planted out the Sweet Peas that i started off last Oct/Nov time … They are about 1ft high , I watched Gardeners World last night and Monty Don planted his Sweet peas out , so im taking guidence from him … And after looking at the forcast for my area I dont think we will be getting any more hard frost ,
Well fingers crossed …

Good grief Eliza, do you live in the Bahamas?

They said this morning it could reach - 7 here tonight!!

Everything’s re-covered in bubble wrap here. Seedlings in growhouses covered with propogator lids and bubble wrap, bark chippings spread over emerging Peony shoots, its freezing cold at night here.

Its going down to -1 up here tonight, but I haven’t planted anything outside yet. I’m still clearing up the debris from past years. So many dead twigs and branches from the trees, nobody bothered with them it seems. :woman_shrugging: I do have a mini greenhouse that I need to build up and put out though. I could do that tomorrow I suppose.

My father used to grow MoneyMaker toms and sold enough of them to more than cover his initial costs. He used to charge the same price/lb as the local market veg stalls and his customer base couldn’t buy them from him fast enough.

I pruned a couple of rose bushes today and tidied up the amelanchier tree. The magnolias are fast finishing flowering and there is “confetti” all over the place. Looked at the begonias in pots in the summerhouse, but no sign of sprouting yet, although I think they have overwintered OK. The hydrangeas have been trimmed up but I think they still need a bit of protection. The grass has had one cut and although there is plenty to do I am still window shopping for summer stuff, but it’s all so expensive this year.
