What have you done in the garden today?

At least you have started on something.

Garden? It’s still frozen solid so nothing.

We have clay soil and it’s been raining and afterwards I planted some plants, it was still wet and when i watered them in,the water just stayed there.

Clay soil has such poor drainage. Bummer.
At our last house our soil was so sandy it had too much drainage and the ants could carry me away. :pleading_face:lol

Started cutting the old flowering stems off the lavender and then hubby asked me to help him tidy up after he cut the hedge.

That’s just as bad having clay soil.
Some places it’s not as bad it’s just the back garden.

It sure is. We had a few clayish areas though just to balance it out . :grimacing: It was horrible soil. Our soil at this house is far worse though so I’m planning on building myself another greenhouse and / or raised garden beds cause I really enjoy gardening.

I’ve just finished weeding and turning over the soil in the fruit garden area, and I’ve got a couple of gooseberry bushes to prune then it can all look after itself.

Finished cutting the old stems of the lavender and some other tidying up and then it started raining. So I pricked out some more calendula and started pricking out the cosmos.

Nothing but tomorrow, weather permitting I am going to repaint my shed, or rather respray it.
With that in mind I thought I should get the sprayer and test it was working after a couple of years providing a home for spiders and it fired up perfectly, solid German make.

I earmarked a section of the garden I am going to dig over at the weekend. The weather is set to be lovely, so I shall dig it over and refresh it, then plant some flower seeds for the summer.

Pricked out the rest of the cosmos, Snapdragon and chilli seedlings.

Started weeding in the front garden and hubby pruned 6 more roses.

Ive been taking the slugs out , I noticed my Sweet Williams which wer planted out last year were being eaton,so after searching round the plant i found them .
Hopefully the new growth will get going with out the slug feasting on them .
