Nothing today, working on my Jeep took longer than I thought and I’ve run out of energy now… zzźzzzz
walked around it
Had coffee in it. Haven’t done anything yet, just enjoyed the sunshine in it. Its Sunday, lazy day.
I set 2 trays of Nigella not sure if i covered them with to much compost , Ellie kept throwing her ball into the green house while i was seed sowing .Tried closing the door but clever gal opened it again.
I managed to give the grass its first cut today, and trimmed round the edges.
Then I set some mixed salad leaves and early carrots in pots.
Also took a Sarcoccoca sucker off and potted it up, but not sure if it will grow or not. They smell lovely when in flower and are evergreen too.
Ive thrown a fleece over my young Magnolia, Camellia and baby Rhodedenderon tonight as they all have buds opening and a -2 frost is forecast tonight.
Ive just bought one of these in the last month, and the scent is lovely.
How much growth do they put on in a year Mups .?
Started to prune the roses.
just a walk around during the afternoon
Oooh! Lookit all your snow though! That looks very pretty
I picked some thyme
I cant honestly remember, Eliza, maybe about 3"? I suppose it depends to some extent on which variety you have.
Mine is the Sarcoccoca Hookeriana, which gets to around 4ft, but there is a smaller one at 2.5 ft and even a dwarf one about 1 ft. They are not big shrubs.
It’s too cold to do anything with that wind from the east.
Sowed some more calendula and cosmos seeds
fed some trees and shrubs in the wild garden
edged the lawns
chipped all the bits from prunings
Just planted out some onions that I grew from seed in early January and sowed spinach, parsnips, carrots and beetroot.
Pricked out 90 calendula seedlings into toilet roll tubes and hubby is pruning the roses, he has to do about 3 every day because of his back.
I’m a bit fed up because I haven’t been able to do anything other than tidy the garden up. The ground is still too cold and brick hard to freshen up with any digging, but…but…I have got some pots going with seeds in them, so I suppose its a start Mostly herbs at the moment, but its a start.
Yesterday I dug up two old roses that were past their best, and always suffered so badly with the dreaded black spot. I have bought two new ones which I shall plant in tubs to hopefully avoid rose replant disease in the same spot.
I have also a third new one on order, so bought more new compost mycorrhizal fungus ready for when it arrives. I need to remove a third rose first though.
Tomato seedlings are all up now, all but one seed germinated, so I can’t complain at that.
