Yes matey - magnificent!!! - have always enjoyed the music of Strauss. Recently there have been a series of adverts on television (Viking Tours) to take a river cruise down the Danube from Passau all the way down to Budapest stopping off in Vienna and back. Somewhat pricey to do, but would love to do it.

Joe, I have a lot of Andre Rieu DVD’s and enjoy them very much. These are the short versions and to watch a full DVD does wonders for the soul.

Try this one.

AB matey, I have this many times over including a recording from the Vienna Staats Opera orchestra conducted by Lorin Maazel.

AB matey, I watch the New Year’s Day concert from Vienna every year. An ambition I have - to be there in person one day - but the waiting list for tickets is many years so it will have to remain an unfulfilled ambition.

I would enjoy that:-) tour myself…

This is from a band called Family. I saw quite a lot of them in the late sixties.
This is from the album: Family Entertainment.

Cop an earful at the lyrics, it sort of tells the story of a trip through a lifetime, I guess you had to be there, wherever there was at the time.

Shirley Bassey may be a good artist AB matey, but too raucous for my taste - prefer this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YYc-S2UDZA&feature=related

Lovely Uncle Joe  just the right mood music for a rather subdued rainy Saturday morning…

This was what a locum teacher tried to teach me over lunch breaks many, many years ago. I heard him playing it and stood in the doorway to the classroom listening. He invited me in and tried to teach me. I don’t ‘read’ music at all so he tried to teach me by ear. I never knew the name of this piece until some years later I accidentally stumbled across a recording of it. Ever since then it has been a piece of music that I adore and probably will until the day I die.

Right now I am listening to my refrigerator cycle. LOL

A very short bit of sheer nonsense from Sam Brown, daughter of Joe.

Tea

This is a short piece from the simply stunning 2006 Spanish film by Guillermo del Toro called Pan’s Labyrinth.
The soundtrack is by Javier Navarrete.

Lullaby

Hammer  did you see the film Pan’s Labyrinth  I thought it was a great film, the music is very evocotive for me , I was humming it for days after first hearing it …

So much like her poor Mother. BTW, what’s happened to Joe, is he still in the land of the living???

Yes he is still in the land of the living I think, the last I heard of him was in April doing a show in Glasgow.
