Any Judith Durham fans
‘The Carnival is over’…

‘All over the world’ …

‘The olive tree’…

I have been going throught her songs checking on the words of ‘Morningtown ride’ which I sing to my grandchildren when they are going to sleep

I am a great fan Meg, Judith Durhams voice is one of the best female voices in the World in my humble opinion. I have to say female singers don’t impress me much, I don’t know why and I have nothing against any of them, but my missus will tell you anytime I hear Judith or Brenda Lee, I’m off in a magical trance, (God help me:-D)

You are clearly a man of taste Jem
I think JD not only had a lovely voice but was beautiful too

Meg darlin’ - Judith Durham’s song “The Carnival is over” is actually a Russian folk song entitled Stenka Razin". Go to Youtube, type in Ivan Rebroff/Stenka Razin and listen to one of the most powerful, beautiful voices ever. Sadly he died several years ago, but I have a number of his CDs. His “Little Bell” is a master-class in voice control.

Hi Uncle Joe  I knew it was taken from a Russian folk song, thank you I will do as you suggest

Yes she was lovely and I liked her voice too. Today we listened too ELO new album, took me back to my sons youth.

Annie  it’s amazing isn’t it how music has the power to transport one back across the years to another time…

Just so with this bit of nostalgia, for what was perhaps a more simple time, what can be remembered that is.
Peace man.
From none other than, Dr Strangely Strange.

Strangely Strange But Oddly Normal

Hi Uncle Joe  thank you, I found and listened to them yesterday.
The Videos reminded of these people from the Ukraine who come to sing in the Priory at Malvern…

…We had a little Ukrainian girl Yelena staying in our house (at work ) and she was very homesick.
I took her to see the Choir perform, the Priory was lit by candle light and the atmosphere was magical. Yelena’s eyes glistened with tears of pride and memories of home. It is something I will always remember…

Oh that was nice George, you know if they were about I would be a Hippie , at the time though I was busy trying to be Audrey Hepburn, sad isnt it.

Have a look at this from Scott McKenzie Annie, worth a stroll down down the ages.

San Francisco

Weren’t we all Annie  I had the figure but sadly not the face

I remember that Hammer  was it recorded at Woodstock

Who could forget Woodstock, peace love and the civil rights movement …

It was the 3 day Monterey Festival 1967

Chill

Who could forget Woodstock, peace love and the civil rights movement …

Meg darlin’ - during ‘Woodstock’ I was up to armpits in banners, posters, demonstrations and battles with ‘plod’ over the Vietnam war, and Wilson and then Heath’s attacks on the Trade Union movement.

Listening to Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon.
