What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 2)

That’s a fabulous idea Di!!!
I’ll try it!

What gravy do I use Di? From the roast lamb the night before?

you wont regret it…tis a big success here…happy hubby happy wifey lol
yes I made extra knowing I would be using it the next day…I often make extra though and freeze it except chicken stock never would risk it…
also I must say I do fuss about with the Gravy as it is the icining on the cake…
I add marmite if I need more taste and use the meat juices from straining the oil or fats from the joint…I know they say boil up the bones to make the best stock…but it takes hours…done it one time and thought…get a life Di…

Just had a cheese and pickle roll and half a bag of crisps with OH.

Tonight we are having Indian meal courtesy of Tesco. They are great value 3 meals for £6.50 and as there are 3 of us tonight that will be perfect. Chicken Tikka biryani. I have been making my own curries for donkeys years since I worked in the Midlands with a lot of Asians and I still use their recipes but sometimes it’s nice to just not have to faff about.

Last night I made lambs liver and onions with mash and peas. Tomorrow night it’s brisket, hopefully.

Dinner tonight is home cooked spare ribs with hoisin sauce and tempura king prawns all on a bed of basmati rice.

Both sound really nice.

Had lunch out in the Whole Food Market canteen … Lasagne + fruit salad.

Tonight some precooked mince & onions from the freezer, add some baked beans & cheese in a bowl with real bread.

Just about to prepare lunch for 5. We will be having roast beef, yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, carrots, peas, cauliflower cheese and leeks and gravy. I will make some sort of pudding but not sure what yet.

Last night I made a family favourite of many years. Vegetable fricasee. Sliced potatoes, carrot batons, cauliflower and broccoli florets, chopped celery boiled in some veg stock. Drain and keep some stock. Lightly fry a chopped onion then make a cheese sauce using milk and some of the stock. Season. Put in large dish and pour sauce over. Sprinkle with peanuts and put some grated cheese over. Cook for about 25 mins at 180c.

That sounds really tasty. :smiley_cat: :smiley_cat:

It is lovely Silver Tabby. Nice on it’s own for me but the menfolk like sausages or bacon with it.
It is also quite an economical meal. :+1:

If you are in a hurry you can use a sachet of cheese sauce instead of making your own.

Hi

Brunch today.

Toasted wholemeal sandwich with black pudding, fried egg and tomatoes.

Steak and veg this evening.

There is always tons of cheese in this house - I love it - so will make my own sauce when I try it - probably mid week. Will let you know how it goes. :smiley_cat: :smiley_cat:
