Lunch / dinner? I’ve not had breakfast yet – rather a late morning, again!

However, lunch (about 15.00 hrs) will be a ham and salad sandwich. Dinner (goodness knows when) will be chicken casserole, cooked in the slow-cooker, with mixed vegetables.

Crikey @Baz46 , not had breakfast yet? :flushed: I’m just about to start preparing lunch, we breakfast at six, lunch at twelve and tea at five, like all civilised people should … :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Today’s lunch is smoked cod loin with poached eggs and wholemeal bread and butter, yum yum…

I am civilised, honest! Unfortunately my circadian rhythm can no longer tell night from day, through working permanent night shifts for over two decades. ‘Silly hours’ I call them, which affects the times I sleep therefore eat.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed how well you live though, you obviously enjoy good and varied food and like the cooking that goes with that!

I know what you mean @Baz46 , I worked three shifts at one time in my life and it’s almost impossible to get into any sort of routine. Strangely enough though my present routine is borne out of years and years of early starts and even now, having been retired for many years, I still can’t break the habit of early to bed early to rise, but thank goodness my wife is the same, otherwise our lives together would also be impossible…

Off-topic I know so apologies to whoever started this massive 452-post thread. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :upside_down_face:

I guess we all do what we have to in order to live our lives, our minds and bodies still know best though. It’s all down to “how we tick”, the mind controls everything and basically sometimes we do tend to ignore that, to our detriment.

Rotating three-shift systems are supposed to be the worst, followed by permanent night shifts. Early and late starts not quite as bad as it’s still possible to have something of a ‘normal’ life. I’ve been fully retired for nearly six years and semi-retired for 10 years before that but still find regular ‘civilised hours’ very difficult to maintain. Shouldn’t really complain though, I’m still around and able to totally fend for myself, following a heart attack after semi-retiring and moving home!

Sounds very tasty @Meg , but are your raspberries still producing, mine finished a few weeks ago (although I have loads in the freezer)

@Barry Hi Barry :slightly_smiling_face:, the autumn raspberries (Joan) were only planted this year and were late to to put out any growth because it was so cold.
The fruits are only just coming which is a shame because they will meet with frost.
The flavour is lovely, I am hoping for an earlier crop next year now they are established.

They are a lovely berry @Meg , mine are so reliable and come up year after year and never fail to give a good crop, starting around mid August for around six weeks or so, in fact the most reliable fruit in my garden…
