What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 2)

Lunch was very simple - a smoked haddock fishcake with tartar sauce in a burger bun, and a mug of homemade veg soup.

Dinner just finished stuffing a chicken breast with homemade garlic and herb butter, left it in the 'fridge to turn itself into Chicken Kiev. Will serve with new potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots glazed with honey and nibbed almonds.

Harvested some brambles - will have those with a generous blob of ice cream!

Dinner was a quick Egg chutney
Not sure if eggs are cooked this way in the UK but it’s famous here in SA. A hot tomato based sauce with eggs. Served with Pita Bread.

Now:

Ham and Cheese Omelette

:yum: :yum: :yum:

Sea Bass and baby potatos

Homepride oven chips, Birdseye Chicken Chargrills and sweetcorn on the cob (from the allotment).

A bacon roll with bacon done in the microwave as my hob and double oven blew up the other day. Have to get another one but until then it’s learning how to cook vegetables in the microwave. Bacon cooks a treat, it is crispy if done for about a minute per rasher and that’s without a grill. Vegetables taste even better than if boiled on the hob, more like steamed vegetables. Another part of the ‘learning curve’ I’ve been on for the last five or six decades!

Thank goodness for Google and the search facilities provided! :grinning:

Now

Veggie Burgers

Joined friends for pub grub and just had the haddock and chips, which was only so so and a bit on the pricey side, so not over enthused… :confounded:

Later:

French Chicken, Bacon & Mushroom Stew

Chicken cooked in oil and Peri Peri seasoning , with baby vine tomatoes , yellow Pepper, and Courgette, then added Wholegrain Rice and Freekeh Microwave Rice .

On holiday so for lunch we bought fromTesco a prawn salad, a melon/passion fruit/ strawberry fruit pot and a custard tart for dessert, delish…

Lunch was a wholemeal bread sarnie ham and dijon mustard…sneeked in a sausage roll I made yesterday with the left over pastry from the Cheese and Onion Pasties…no cakes no biscuits all of the week though.
Tonight is Entrecote Steaks, fried to medium rare with a huge home made Stirfry with OvenChips…maybe go for a pepper sauce as well.

Hi

Millie is here, so a takeaway McDonalds , first time in years.

Had Pasta Bolg. and Garlic Bread.

Not a lot is on the menu, unless it can be cooked in a microwave after my hob and double oven blew up earlier in the week. A new type of learning curve this is. I’ve found that microwaved vegetables taste better than when cooked on the hob, more like steamed vegetables. Even crispy bacon can be cooked for a bacon sandwich or roll, fried or soft-boiled eggs have so far evaded me though. I can cook chicken or any meat required in the slow-cooker – where’s there’s a will there’s a way!

Stuffed peppers this evening.
