Eeek! Goodness Meg is the party to be held in your house? If yes, do you want to borrow some old sheets to cover the walls, radiators carpets?
Two years old already, bless them.
…that won’t be difficult Bonny with wall to wall runny noses and grubby hands  ![]()
…no Mary it’s in a church hall
I would have a nervous breakdown if it was here as would by DIL ![]()

Thank goodness for that! I was almost having a breakdown here thinking about it!
I remember my own children’s parties. My what a mess they could make.
This evening’s meal will be braised steak and onions with potatoes, cauliflower and green beans. That’s for the family, I will be having fish with a pepper stuffed with couscous.
You are so right Mall, now we’re doing the grandchildrens’ parties! When one of them was seven my daughter asked if it could be held here, yes I said. Then … she invited the whole class! Twenty nine children plus the family, thank goodness for the big garden, a bouncy castle and a sunny day … but never again!
Back to the topic, for my lunch today I had beans on toast, yoghourt and a pear.
we had lasagne today home made of course
with baked potato
In my local shop I picked up 500g of braising steak for just £2.98! Can you believe that?
Tonight I cut all the fat off and gave that to Billie as a treat, then I cut the rest into five portions, so guess what I’m having for tea tomorrow night?
I normally do braising steak in my slow-cooker, but can it be done in a pan on the hob, very very slowly in a little water? Never tried that before, so I’ll see what you think. Don’t forget my time is limited when I get home from work.
tonight we are having a treat fillet steak with mushrooms and salad, might have a baked potato not decided yet but hubby and kids will want one
Sounds’ - fabulous Kitty darlin’ all except the salad - thats for the rabbits. Just make sure the baked tatties are smothered in butter!!!
Just roasted some chicken for soup and the house smells delicious
I always use a slow cooker Mollie.I also buy at times a nice piece of Brisket and do it in there and it makes a fabulous Roast dinner with the meat so tender you don’t even need a knife on it.You made 500g of meat into 5 dinner’s?Wow is all I can say!
You must only have a tiny appetite Mollie 100 grams of meat is not very much.
I am making a very simple and quick meal this evening. Omelettes filled with gammon, cheese and mushrooms with a side salad. No dessert because every one is cutting down. I don’t think it will last long knowing my lot.
i have opted for baby potato in melted butter, everyone else wants baked potato ![]()
but as an extra treat this evening for supper i have some gammon ham and home made bread
washed down with port and brandy ![]()
Kitty darlin’ - gammon and ham and bread sounds very nice BUT - with pickled onions too??? - can’t have ham sandwiches without a pickled onion as well - nice and crispy with a ‘real’ bite to 'em.
No pickled onions uncle Joe, well not for me anyway i don’t like them, hubby might have some.
I may have a tomato with a slither of cheese to go with mine
we don’t often indulge, i am looking forward to it ![]()

That’s plenty enough meat for me, along with some carrots, creamy mash and onion gravy.
Kitty darlin’ - I indulge nearly every day!!! - have cracker biscuits, Brie cheese and a small bottle of Port to wash it all down.
Decided to indulge. Ordered on line to be delivered (can’t drive right now) from the restruant “East Side Mario’s”, pasta meals (for my daughter also), salad/soup/bread.
They always give enough for two meals, which means I have tomorrow covered too. 25 mins more and it should be here!
