What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Still using up the remains of my Beef joint from last Sunday - so made a ‘stew’ yesterday - but didn’t have room in the pot for dumplings. I ate half the pot yesterday, so now there is room to make some suet dumplings which I will cook today and eat with the remains of the stew.

Chicken curry with garlic and coriander naan bread…

Just had Fish Chips and Mushy peas, all home made.

Well the fish came from the docks and needed filleting, the spuds came out of the ground and needed peeling, eyeing and cooking and the Mushy peas afraid to say came from a can.

Really fancied a curry so I made a Biryani which is making the house smell like heaven.

Pan fried chicken and rice lubbly jubbly, oh yes and a glass or two of wine.

Any chance of the recipe pretty please as it sounds looovely!!

Beef casserole with homemade bread

I think there is a recipe thread somewhere in food and drink I will put the Biryani on there.

Thank you i will look later.

Im soooooooooooooooooooooo hungry!!! Its getting dangerous lol I could swerve into KFC on my way to Sainsburys this afternoon so i’d better at least have some soup!

Isn’t it odd a couple of years ago we had KFC and hubs was ill next day he has never eaten KFC again although we are pretty sure it had nothing to do with his being ill. My sister in law got pneumonia after a night drinking cider so no more cider for her. Daft I wish something would put me of chocolate and biscuits.

I am ashamed to say I actually have to force myself not to go to KFC!! Its one of those things I just absolutely would do anything for lol I know its fatty and not healthy but I just love the flavour and none of the competitors make it the same and neither is a southern fried coating the same!!

When I was younger I loved fried oysters, but after becoming violently ill after eating some I’ve never been able to bear the thought of having them again …

Looked in the fridge to find a big bag of carrots, lots of basil on the windowsill so this is what we will have for dinner to night.

Carrot, sweet potato and ‘small basil’ soup
Serves 2
3 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 sweet potato, peeled and chopped
1 red pepper, seeded and chopped
2 garlic cloves, peeled
glug of shaoshung wine
spray of oil
about 400ml hot stock
1 good handful of ‘small’ or regular fresh basil, torn

Roast all the veggies in a 200 degree oven in a covered baking tray, covered with the glug of shaoshung for about 45 minutes. Shovel them about a bit with a spatula. Spray with oil, and continue roasting, with half of the basil, uncovered for about 20 minutes more, until all the veggies are soft.

Liquidise the veggies with the other half of the basil and the stock. Reheat if necessary.

:shock::shock: Where’s the meat Cate darlin’ - can’t eat without a meat course!!!

Hubs will be eating a large steak for his main course. I am trying to cut down. You could add some meat if you wanted to but when making soup I usually dig out what is in the fridge and use that, today it was carrots and basil;

we are having a quick meal tonight, bacon butties

I just dont have time to go shopping and my stacked freezer remains stacked, because i am the only person capable of taking anything out to de frost

You know Kitty until I was ill recently nothing dragged itself out of our freezer unless it was dragged by me. Since my illness not only are things taken from he freezer but meals are planned and cooked not always by me… Mind you being ill is hardly the answer is it?

Matters not whether I’m ill or not - food is still taken from freezer by me, cooked and eaten. I would have to be very seriously ill to be ‘off my food’.

We will be having chicken breasts marinated with mixed herbs and cooked in a bag, with baby new potatoes, sweetheart cabbage, and carrots.
