They’re very good Jan darlin’, BUT a microwave would tend to 'harden the suet pastry crust - much better to cook them in a steamer on the ‘stove’ - yes, yes, I know it takes longer, but its worth it!!!
Today we are having:
Chicken Breasts marinated in Indian spices with Roast Potatoes, Baked Onion, Swede, Fine Beans & gravy.
It turned out quite well UJ. The instruction is to put a little water in the receptacle holding the pud. Only the very top was a little hard.
Chicken and vegetables in the new pressure cooker, I am assured it’s safer than the old ones that used to scare me to death, but hear an explosion over Woking at lunch time it’s me
Precisely!!! Jan darlin’ - microwaves tend to ‘set’ pastry like concrete - a ‘steamer’ (although it takes a little longer) is a much better option.
Chicken dinner for us today to celebrate my new oven, hob and extractor units
Ok change of plan I was too scared to turn it on, so I’ve made salmon fish cakes with green beans much safer
Today it’s Chicken Curry and Rice.
I plumbed the depths of my cauldron yesterday and finished up the Rabbit stew & dumplings. May now follow Jan’s example and heat a steak & kidney pud with appropriate accompanying veg and gravy.
Hot dogs today, with jelly and icecream for pud. Busy day so something quick.
Today it’s:
Red Tin Salmon Salad (got to be healthy).
Grace wants to cook today, so I’ve got some fish out to defrost and she is going to make a fish pie.
Did you not see the other day Susie darlin’ - people eating salad (rabbit food) managed to succumb to Ecoli??? - not that healthy.
No UJ not seen that, but I think if you make sure you wash your salad properly then there’s no problem.
Today it will be:-
Cod, new potatoes, broccoli and carrots.
There is a lovely ham fillet simmering away, and it will be accompanied by mash, green beans in garlic butter, and pak choy. Himself made a rhubarb and nectarine cobbler this morning (already been sampled, just to make sure it isn’t poisoned ;-)) so that for dessert.
Ran out of bread this morning - used the last few slices for my toast, so needed to go down road to Co-op to get more bread and on returned, via pie shop and bought a couple of pies for my lunch.
Ive just chopped up a Carrot, Parsnip , Swede,Onion , and a couple of Chicken Breast and they are simmering away in a Vegetable gravy , another 10 minutes and it will be ready .
Tonight will be chicken kiev, a small cheesy jacket potato, with carrot and peas. And a Sainsburys custard doughnut afterwards.
Tomorrow I will have a lamb chops dinner. Bought a pack of 5 today and will freeze 3 of them.
Brill with a recipe from Sophie ~Grigson-strong cheese and a delicate fish?-we will see.
