What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Possibly, a fishcake and some mixed veg … dunno do I

Not sure yet, but it will be Italian anyway, COS I’m going to an Italian Night at the pub in the next village tonight.

I had breaded chicken fillets with chips and bread and butter

We had grilled pork shoulder steaks with apple sauce, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and gravy…

Today it is:-

Marinated Belly of Pork Strips in BQ Sauce with Homemade oven Chips & Courgette and Pepper Bake.

I could, if I bothered to get out of my armchair, go and defrost a packet of Venisons steaks to make a venison stew, but since I’m nice and comfy sitting here I’m not sure I can be bothered. However, I do have plans ‘B’, ‘C’ & ‘D’. I have fish, I have pork steaks, I have some pork and beef mince and could, with that, make myself a cottage pie.

I’m making a meat and potato plate pie which we will have with either kale and carrots or perhaps baked beans instead.

Not sure I found a mystery parcel in the freezer (lost it’s label) it’s in the vegetarian section so all I know is it’s vegetable based. Hopefully a nice surprise.

Even more of a surprise if it turns out to contain meat of some description;-)

Yuk then it would have to be egg and chips

Just reporting back. The Italian was bloomin’ 'orrible.
My friend likes olives but I don’t, so we asked for one with and one without olives, but they came there were no olives for either of us.
We asked for garlic bread with our dinner, but it came nearly 15 mins BEFORE our dinner, so we had to eat it like a starter.
The pasta was so coated in grease, I barely ate half of it.

And lastly, there is a big old fire in this pub, but they put only 2 logs on it about 4" long, it was bloomin’ freezing in there. We thought we’d be warmer in the dining area because we could see a radiator plus a small free standing fire in there as well. Unfortunately, the radiator was stone cold, and the other fire only had the red glow showing, without the heat on.

What a tight fisted, penny pinching old landlord he must be. :frowning:

Aw that’s awful Mups, did you say anything to staff about your meal? And that you were cold? I hate it when you look forward to having a good night out for it to be spoiled by someone who does look after your needs…

We’ve just had a mixed salad with cooked chicken wrapped in cheese and bacon…

Thanks sue. I know it was only a village pub and not a posh restaurant, but I rarely go out for a meal these days so I was looking forward to it alot.
It’s a lovely old building in the middle of beautiful countryside, and a warm place with a lovely fire would have been so much more welcoming. And the food really was not good, so it was very disappointing all round.
The lad waiting on our table was very apologetic and looked embarrassed, but he was only young and it wasn’t his fault after all.
Never mind, its done now.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad time out on your meal Mups…chalk it down to experience and use your feet and not go back…what a horrible atmosphere to eat a meal in …sounds awful!!

Got seriously side-=tracked yesterday, so didn’t get round to making my cottage pie, but I will later this morning.

Lamb chops, Lyonaise potatoes, carrots, kale and gravy !..followed by jaffa cakes and grapes

Making a steak and kidney pie for the meat eaters, and a vegetable pie for me, boiled egg and soldiers for Grace if she feels she manage it.

Send her down this way Julie darlin’ - I’ll feed her up good and proper - nice big plateful of cottage pie followed by some rhubarb crumble and custard!!!

We have just had Piri Piri Chicken Breasts, Roast Potatoes, Roast Parsnips, Baked Onion, Curly Kale, Carrots and Gravy.
