Providing the man from Sainsburys can bring me some couscous, will have that with some salmon steaks and veg.
Going to have left over Lamb roast tonight.
Just made 2 Lasagnes, one for son to take back to Mount Gambier, and one for the freezer for us. Just about to make 2 Egg & Bacon pies, one for son and one for us for tomorrow night.
This son living and working away from home, about 500 miles away, comes home every weekend to take his meals back with him. Plus any cakes or biscuits he can scrounge, or Mum’s apple pie/lemon meringue pie. I think he’s on a good wicket.
Ooooohhhh - can I come too Sandi darlin’??? - sounds fabulous!!!
Hey UJ, I know you are a fan of Auntie Bessie, have you tried ‘her’ leek, potato, celeriac and cheese mash? I actually picked it up by accident and decided to give it a go last night. It is ‘supposed’ to be enough for two! Just weaned maybe! So added extra mash and a dollop of lurpak and we had it with a slice of grilled gammon and beans. Quite tasty actually. I think maybe the extra mash ‘diluted’ the celeriac flavour so that it was just a hint. Was worried that my son who hates celery would not like, but he ate every scrap with no comment.
UJ you would be most welcome. I love cooking for people who appreciate food, and I don’t like leftovers.
What are leftovers Sandi darlin’???![]()

Tonight - home made Scotch eggs + salads.
Susiejaeger - I’ve made the same lasagne with, chicken, turkey, pork or veal mince. It works pretty well with any of these - just might want to adjust the seasoning slightly.
Yes George you are right about the seasoning. ![]()
This lunchtime I had a banana milkshake.
For dinner I’ll have some smoked salmon flakes with pasta and a crust roll followed by two easy-peal tangerines and a black coffee.
I’ve just had some spicy rice, added sweetcorn and mixed with tuna, lovely and tasty!
Dinner will be Roasted Chicken, Red Potatoes and Sour Cream Cucumbers. This morning I made a Pineapple Upside Down cake. I haven’t made this cake in a long time, can’t wait to have a slice!
Don’t wait then, get stuck into it.![]()
Still have some stew left, will add extra vegetables to it and make a few more dumplings - luverly grub!!!
We had Boiled Egg Salad today.
Bangers and swedey mash with onion gravy, veg to be decided, followed by home made rhubarb pie and custard.
Steak and chips for us!
Last night I had a mushroom kiev (meant to pick up garlic butter - my Morrisons has a nasty habit of putting items in the wrong places on shelves, so as to confuse and infuriate me), and parmentier potatoes, with peas. Then a piece of key lime pie and ice cream. Sadly the KLP, from Tesco, was not of the good quality of other brands, but I struggle to eat a portion every evening.
Today I am planning to go out for the day (still not decided where) and have planned a picnic of making a chicken n sweetcorn sandwich (Asda filler) with paprika sprinkled over. Flask of hot water, milk and coffee, plus snacks.
We have just had:
Belly of Pork in Chinese sauce, oven cubed potatoes & Courgette Bake.
Its Saturday, so if I can stir myself sufficently to rise from my comfy chair and walk down the road to the pie shop, I can get my piglet pie!!! - failing which I’ll have to raid my freezer for an alternative.
