Doing salmon with celeriac mash and peas for meat eater
Having the mash and peas with a vegetarian sausage myself and I have just put a vegetarian suet pudding filled with apples on to steam to be served with custard because I am fully expecting the boys to turn up half way through dinner and wanting something substantial as they have both been playing basket ball this afternoon which always makes them hungry.
Today we are having Steak & Kidney Pudding, UJ’s favourite, with Boiled Potatoes, Carrots and French Beans, Gravy.
Defrosting some chicken. Will either marinade in bbq powder, or sprinkle some lemon flavour crusty topping on top, and put in the oven.
we got a 4 bird roast …yummy yummy

I feel like faggots! gonna cook some carrots and swede, potatoes and cauli to go with them:-)
We are having hot chicken curry…rice…and crumble for afterwards…
picked up a pack of six pork ‘medallions’ for a ridiculously low price from Lidl the other week and they have been sitting in the freezer ever since. They are sitting defrosting and we will have them later with carola (spelling?) potatoes and french beans and carrots, and maybe some broc also.
I love faggots but done the way my mum and grandma did them, two, in a basin and covered with a tin of processed peas then in the oven for an hour until they have swelled up and absorbed the juice, then with pepper and loads of vinegar and a crusty roll!!
Oh Daisy…do you know what they are made from??..
some folk love liver, kidneys, tripe, each to their own tastes
Making a big bowl of salad and everyone will be making their own pizzas tonight, expecting everyone home soon so the bases are all ready and all the toppings chopped just need the family to arrive.
Bit of a sad one because oldest nephew is back off to his army posting after dinner. We have really enjoyed having him home.
oohh liver and kidneys …I luv them …tripe i have never tried
I cook it for the dogs sometimes smell is enough to knock you out
I just don’t like the look of tripe, I’m told there isn’t much taste to it so I don’t think I’m missing anything
We used to cook it for our dogs …the smell was enough to make you puke ![]()

OK…
I won’t argue with you…
But…VILE…I would rather have my eyes pulled out with rusty fish hooks…still…depends what you are used to…
I never had to eat offal…
Oh yes, and they are delicious, especially fresh from butcher.
Love liver, preferably lambs, although have used diced ox liver in stir fry and no one realised what it was, pig liver though is a bit too grainy for me. Kidneys? Nah, always taste of what they do to me. But, love love stuffed and braised lambs heart, and an ox(beef) heart is extremely versatile, thin slices flash fried make great sandwiches, thicker slices pan fried or on griddle could pass for steak, and larger chunks braised easily passes for beef, as do cubes in casserole.
Only ever tasted tripe once, a friend loved it cooked in milk with onions and he persuaded me to taste it, basically it was like chewing a milky oniony flavoured flannel.
I think Calfs Liver is the best, but must more expensive.
Today we are having marinated Pork Chops with vegs.
Cauliflower cheese here my favourite
