George matey, by the time you had posted your contribution on this thread, I had thought about, and planned my lunch, peeled and chopped the veg, made the sauce (gravy) to go in the casserole, chopped the meat, and placed the whole thing in the oven ready for cooking.
Sorry Daisymay, I didn’t mean Doh to you, I meant the shop, I misread your posting a bit. SORRY !!!
I also plan my meals the evening beforehand, and in the morning I have all my vegetables prepared by 7am. ![]()
I DO have a few sausages in the fridge but have been having them for a few days now. I was quite satisfied with what I had.
Today for lunch had quick cheese on toast.
I sometimes have that for breakfast - not enough to fill me up at lunchtime though Jan darlin’. F’r instance after I ate the casseroled pork at lunchtime, I also ate (some) berry sponge pudding (ex Iceland) & custard.
Today we are having Roast Gammon and vegetables and all the trimmings.
Son will not be home until well after 8pm tonight so am planning a chicken salad for us both. Cooked chicken from Iceland for about £3.50 will provide enough for a big salad each tonight and enough left for him to take a pasta salad to work tomorrow. Sorted.
Pie, mash & peas for lunch today.
Managed some toast at lunch time, enough for me today I think.
We are having Lamb Chops, Pot. veg. today.
Hmmmm decisions, decisions. I could ‘pop’ down the road and eat my fish 'n chips in the fish shop/restaurant at the bottom of the hill, or I could bung some frozen fish and oven chips in the oven and eat at home.
I had forgotten just how much I enjoyed a salad!
After work yesterday son went down to Cardiff to meet some friends and popped into their huge Tesco on the way back to buy a loaf. He spotted both a cooked chicken and a gammon joint much reduced (50p ea.) in the hot food section so grabbed them. I was lying in bed, dropping off to sleep, trying to think what to do with these for today, and decided on a chicken, leek and ham pie, with mash and veggies.
Bargains! Enjoy.
Going to have a protein shake today, will be easier to manage I think and only 121 calories so well within my limits at the moment.
We felt like a bit of a treat this week after the stress of last week with my wife’s accidental overdose of painkillers, so we went to a new Waitrose, just to have a look 'cos it’s been raining all day so far!
Personally I’d love to shop at Waitrose all the time but our income won’t support it so it’s always a treat so we bought a meal for tonight and a few bits and bobs to go with meals in the week.
We also bought some really tasty-looking chipolatas, marked down with today’s Best Before on them with the intention of freezing them but, when we got to the checkout, the girl there notice what appeared to be water in the packaging.
She called someone over, despite my wife saying not to bother
and we’d leave them.
That person brought another pack (at full price!) and we were given them free!
Guess what’s on the menu for brekkie tomorrow!! stevmk2
Aaahhhh but have you got all the other ingredients matey - eggs, bacon, black pudding, baked beans, hash browns and door step bread slices for the accompanying toast???
Eggs, bacon, mushrooms, toast and tomatoes for us Joe!
That’ll do us 'til an early dinner if this rain continues! stevmk2
Chicken Curry and Couscous.
spag. bol with freshly minced beef.
We’ve just had the same daisymay.
