What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Roast chicken for us too. Don’t know what to do along with it - unfortunately there’s not a lot in the garden at this time.

Maybe make soup for lunch. It’s freezing up here and something warm is appealing.

No idea what will be on offer later. We have been invited out.
Looking forward to it.

Im having Steak Mash and Cabbage…I know it sounds odd
but I had no Frozen Veg in…(thought i had)…but i did have a Cabbage
think ill put a bit of Garlic in it when i cook it…lol

Enjoy ur meal all

GW
As the heat scales tip at 41 C today, we will be having mostly cool drinks, showers and maybe a bit of salad. Too hot to eat much and the next few days will be even hotter.

Tried out a new recipe today out of my Morrisons free mag .
It was like a lasagne but sort of spicy Mexican and layered up with tortillas . then cheese sauce over the top and done in the oven . Was the nicest thing I have had in ages

The plan today was lamb chops out of the freezer, with roasties. I’d bought the chops around Christmas time (at 84p, massively reduced), froze them straightaway and took out yesterday. Got them out of the fridge today while veg was parboiling and I smelt them. Hmm…decidedly dodgy. Almost put them in the oven but chickened out at the last minute and bagged them up before chucking in the bin.

Fortunately the other day I’d bought a new box of basics chicken & veg pies (in gravy) so had one with the roasties. Very tasty it was too, even though I really was looking forward to the lamb.

On FB my niece then put on my status that she’d just thrown away £4 worth of fish that smelt off. Having had fish related food poisoning a few years ago I am not chancing my luck. And that goes for lamb too!

Feeling a bit better today but more on Chit chat thread.

@jazzi, you will find that the ‘older’ a lamb is, the more ‘gamey’ it will smell and taste (old as in age that is). Also sometimes the blood in meat may tend to smell strong especially if left for more than say, twelve hours. Trick is to soak in cold water for a while to allow blood to leach out, pat dry and grill as normal. Try it next time you are wary. Remember most good butchers hang their meat for several weeks without it going off so the chances of it doing so overnight ars slim.

Ah thanks, should have done that! Must remember to get rid of the rubbish bag today, else my kitchen will start minging!

I am having a double pepperoni pizza as a treat! Haven’t had a pizza for ages.

Just had some porridge and am leaving chick bits to defrost to cook later

Must remember to try grilling them in the microwave instead of using the proper oven

spicy Pork Pilaff.

Lunchtime we had 2 fried eggs, 2 sausages, potato, cheese & onion bake and bakebeans.

Tonight leftover Singapore Noodles.

Am about to turn yesterday’s left over mash and kale with some softened onion and diced left over pork into rissoles. What to have with though? Maybe wedges and beans?

Tonight my favourite , beans on toast with plenty of HP sauce .

… and a glass of wine, maybe

Cos I’m ‘worth it’

Sadly no wine , just a cup of tea !

That sounds good, Uncle Joe, is there enough for two ?

Only just now seen your post, darlin’ so sadly no - it all went down my tunnel yesterday afternoon.

Got some Tesco value white fish (no idea what it is but it is white ) Going to cover it in bread crumbs and bake it for meat eater. Boiled eggs and toast for me.

Steak and Kidney Pudding and Vegs tonight.
