Coquilles Saint-Jacques and salad, followed by blueberries and fromage frais.
Baked potato with two different vegetarian fillings
What on earth is that?
We had Chicken Breasts, I made a pocket in the middle and added Garlic Cheese and sprinkled Piri Piri Spices on top, with Cubed Fried Potatoes and Vegs.
Sounds yummy
Chicken has been my staple diet for a loooong time and I gave up cheese a year or 2 ago (loved cheese all my life … and potatoes)
Did cutting cheese out of my life affect my high cholesterol ?
Nah … NO WAY
It’s scallops in a cheese sauce topped with bread crumbs and piped mash potatoes, served in a scallop shell. Delicious.
Coquilles Saint-Jaques: Scallops and mushrooms in wine sauce. ![]()
Ok, thank you, don’t like Scallops.
We had Steak and Kidney Pudding with vegs.
Clearing out the 'fridge yesterday I discovered a sad looking bag of leeks had bought just before Christmas. We had had the two biggest sliced and steamed with some pork and had forgotten the rest. However when the soggy outer leaves were removed the rest of the stalk was fine (love that about leeks) so having also found a small container of diced pancetta, I made a big pan of leek and potato soup. So later on will be having a bowl of that. If it tastes half as good as it looks and smells then should be delish.
Just had a load of … wait for it … guess what … yes
Popcorn
I have some dried-up spring onions in my fridge and little else.
Oh Rachel, that’s not good - you need to restock your fridge. I have: eggs, cheese, cartons of juice, butter, spread, cold meats, lard, dripping, jif lemon, jif Lime juices. In the dew bin I have onions, parsnips, carrots, Leeks and Celeriac. This is the very basic minimum in my fridge!!!
OK UJ ~ I now have Mango Juice, Soya Milk and Iceburg Lettuce
Also abt half a loaf of bread, Flora, bottle of plonk, jars of stuff and there may be 2 eggs cos Mum wanted some.
Have had porridge today
Made this http://www.itv.com/lorraine/food/sinless-southern-baked-chicken with some green beans for the meat eaters, little meat eater loved it. Made similar with the mayo and bread crumbs coating using mushrooms for us vegetarians and that was quite nice too.
That looks very nice Julie.
We just had Chicken Curry and Rice.
Julie, what I like about you is that you don’t deride meat-eaters on here, although you be vegetarian, and I respect that. I seriously tried to become vegetarian a couple of months ago, but I failed miserably.
I do love to experiment with food but I can’t afford to buy things on a whim to experiment with, so I use what I have to make my meals more interesting because I’m eating less and less these days.
Tomorrow, I’m going to cook a small pepper steak with mushrooms and onions in a pepper sauce. I’ll make some Duchesse potatoes with it and perhaps some sauteed carrots, but I may change my mind before then.
Ended up eating a sandwich ~ sad innit
Bangers and Mash today.
Tonight I will be eating Singapore Noodles.
Its Sunday once more - means I can have my full Sunday Roast again!!!
Rachel darlin’ - you seriously need to eat more than just a sandwich. At this time of year you need something hot!!! - and don’t tell me you’ll toast the sandich, I mean ‘proper’ hot food!!!
Thank you Mollie, I don’t see eat eating as something to deride people about, I don’t like meat and can’t happily see an animal killed to feed me but that’s me others can eat what they like. I cook meat everyday for my husband and anyone else who wants it.
Doing a stuffed roast chicken today, with broccoli and peas for my meat eaters and will be having a cheese ad broccoli omelette myself.
