What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

steak pie and chips with carrots and peas tonight followed by apple tart and cream…

Roast Gammon, roast potatoes and vegs.

The best steak pie we ever had was in Brechin last year, I never knew a pie could hold so much meat! We could hardly move after we finished.
Just had a light meal today, beans on toast, feel stuffed with all the Christmas fayre!

We have just had our lunch of Fish Fingers, Cheese, onion potato bake and bake beans.

Last of the ham with a baked potato and sweetcorn for meat eaters and a small cheese and onion flan for me.

Ham sandwich and pickled onions for lunch, will be ‘out’ to dinner this evening.

Well we have just had lunch of:

Chicken breasts with hot spices on it, with roast potatoes, and vegs. and made my own spicy sauce to go with it.

Hubby is doing himself sausage chips and peas, feeling a bit rough myself so not up to cooking today.

Wish you well Julie.

I’ve got a saucepan on the go with potato, cabbage and leek. When part cooked, will then chuck it into a frying pan with some onion. To go with a chicken and veg pie from freezer.

Today we are having TURKEY!!

Today we are having lamb & our own, home-grown parsnips & roast spuds - really looking forward to it too.

It’s rolled Lamb breast, so we’re hoping it turns out well.

A treat really, @ £4.23 for 866 gram joint it’s not something we’d go for often.

Why is lamb so expensive?

Sorry, I call that expensive - how about you? stevmk2

Take a photo & put it in the competition!

I agree about the price of lamb nowadays. I recall as a child my mother paying a shilling for a breast of lamb, and that was for the entire breast and not just the flap which is all one gets nowadays. Furthermore it is even more annoying to look out of my window and see sheep grazing on the hillside and then seeing the price of Welsh lamb in the shops. No wonder that rustling has re-emerged. Oh and lamb lovers, please take note, that in New Zealand where a vast amount of our lamb originates, they now slaughter all their lamb ‘halal’ as it saves having to differentiate in-store.

Last night we had a sausage casserole which ended up being an amalgamation of one Ramsey had demonstrated on his new show, a recipe by Hairy Bikers (had to guess amounts as theirs was for 40) and some tweaks by myself. Have to say it was really quite lovely, and I realised that it was the first sausage casserole I had ever cooked.

Tonight it will be belly pork slices with another recipe from the Ramsey programme, twice baked bubble and squeak potatoes, plus broc and one other veg yet to be decided.

I must admit, I think Lamb is one of the most expensive meat to buy these days, it used to be the cheapest, I don’t often buy it, just now and then as I am a white meat eater.

Lunch today: couple slices of French bread with homemade garlic mayonnaise and Gouda cheese.

Heading home later today, so not sure yet, although I’ve already had an ‘Ulster fry’ breakfast!!!

Have just had our lunch of Homemade Chicken Curry, Singapore Noodles and Bombay Potatoes, I tried out a new recipe for the Curry and it went down well.

We had Roast Gammon and Vegs today.

Chicken sandwich later.

A lot of the lamb used to be older sheep who produced more meat, now they slaughter very early and the amount of meat from them is so much less.

We rarely buy mince these days that has gone up hugely in price, makes me glad I’m vegetarian just need to persuade meat eater to turn too

Cauliflower cheese to day.
