Tonight we had bacon sandwiches.
Bangers and Mash tonight.
Am defrosting a pork chop and will make a casserole of it later today.
Got some mince out of the freezer so will make a burger for my meat eater and I will have tomato soup myself I think.
found some pork steaks in freezer last night when getting the turkey out to defrost, so tonight it will be sweet and sour pork and rice.
Smoked haddock, mash and sweetcorn for us tonight.
Turkey is on my menu. Eating late this afternoon as usual but think I might stuff myself with mince pies a bit first
Turkey Beef, wine beer …more turkey and beer washed down with more wine …burp … then a flaming 2 year old Xmas pudding …then nibbles and chocolate later and more beer Merry Xmas all
Oh yeah ~ wine and Vodka and chocs too ![]()
Better make a start now I think
Last night we had Lidl’s Beef Wellington, with duchess potatoes and my famous red cabbage. Congratulations Lidl an excellent meal.
Today it is roast duck, stuffing balls, roast taters, roast parsnips and a special gravy. All made from scratch this time but ingredients from Lidl 10 out of 10 for quality and taste so far.
Have broken with tradition - I had steak & Kidney pudding with teamed celeriac, potatoes, leeks and carrots.
What I fancied…
home made goats cheese tartlets with a tossed salad,
…a bottle of wine,
…a small box of Heston Blumenthal chocolates (a gift from my son and lovely/strange in equal measure
) I can eat these with a good conscience because I had salad
I’m roasting a duck tonight, but in the meantime have to blanch and freeze lots of sprouts and carrots as Aldi were selling them for 5 cents a kilo this week.
But the goat’s cheese tartlet was probably far more wicked than the chocolates, eh?
But who cares? It’s Christmas!
(Wanders off, muttering to self, bah humbug…)
Turkey and all the trimmings!
Turkey Legs, Cheese & Onion Potato Bake.
Cold turkey (sick of it now), salad and jacket spuds and, guess what else, leftover Christmas pud, mince pies and cream.
Last of the nut roast with cabbage and peas. Meat eater is having a chicken sandwich, and other meat eater is having cabbage peas and chicken with chips.
Well yesterday we had our ‘traditional’ cold meat and chips, usually eaten with assorted pickles and relishes, but this year there was actually some gravy left so we bunged that on instead. Tonight it will be even more cold cuts but with a fry up of left over (well not actually ‘left over’ as prepared extra just for this) veggies from Wednesday and this time we will have the relishes etc. Pudding will be either strawberry cheesecake or the last of the sherry trifle. Maybe cheese and biccies,
As we’re on our own we’re having an old favourite - Bubble & Squeak!
This will be home-made of course with all the odd bits of meat left over and pickles of various types.
Turkey’s gone though because we only had a breast joint yesterday, (picked at it all last evening - now it’s gone!), but we’ve still got bits 'n bobs of Gammon, Pork, Pigs-in-Blankets and Sausage Meat.
Might have chips but what’s there now is more than we can manage I think!
Christmas Pud too - dunno if I’ll manage that though.
