What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Yippee!!! - its Saturday, - that means Piglet pie day!!! Delicious!!!

Last night I was awoken at 03.30 and couldn’t get back to sleep. My mind began to race. So much excitement, I actually lay there and thought ‘what can we have for dinner tomorror?’ I started off with Biryani in the slow cooker, sounds good, smells wonderful and I have the ingredients. As I carefully went through the cooking method in my mind I must have dozed. I know my dozy mind said, we can have chicken pie with mash. I started going through the cooking method (I even thought about taking the pastry I have in the fridge out) Then I must have dozed again. I made a really good sausage and egg pie, hubs loved it as I have the pastry why don’t I make a sausage and egg pie, I have the ingredients. Then I must have dozed again. I have chicken breasts, sausage meat, and all the ingredients for biryani and chicken pie. What shall it be? oh what shall it be? I am leaning towards slow cooked biryani as I am feeling a bit dozy. Lack of sleep I think.

Had Chicken Breasts, roast pot. vegs.

Husband cooked today so he made a chicken and bacon pie for himself and a cheesy vegetable pie for me. His pastry really is the best I have ever eaten even beats my nan’s and that’s saying something.

We are having Chicken Kiev, new pot. vegs this evening.

Sausages (don’t like :-() and bubble and squeak

I have a bit of pie I saved from yesterday :!:

Peeled and chopped vegetables, added an (Iceland) steak & Kidney pudding into my tiered steamer and will cook the whole lot shortly.

Yesterday we had slow and low cooked shoulder of lamb with roast pots and parsnips, plus cabbage, broccoli, carrots and french beans; was crafty and when preparing pots for bar boiling, added some cut smaller and retained those plus extra cabbage for bubble and squeak tonight with the remains of the lamb.

Must laugh at me, I read this as a tired steamer and wondered what it had done to make it tired.

I made a wonderful biryani in the slow cooker the other day, yep you can cook rice in the slow cooker if you cook it a little on the stove top first. I also have taken on Greggs and have made a delish sausage, bean and cheese latticed pie. If I do say so myself my all butter short crust pastry is the best.

Well Cate darlin’ - if you’re going to lay down that sort of challenge then I need a sample to be able to judge.:lol::lol:

We are having Sausage Stew today, yummy.

Have taken a chicken breast out of the freezer and its now quietly defrosting. Later on, will make myself a chicken curry with it - something really ‘hot’ to sweat the last vestiges of this cold I have out of me.

A challenge is what you want is it Uncle Joe? Ok I shall be making mince pies on Friday. I will post one to you. On second thoughts I better not cos some have brandy in the mince and some have rum and I know you would never consider eating mince pies which might make you fail a breath test.

Got a pork chop for meat eater, with cauliflower and broccoli

Having the cauli and broccoli with a veggie burger myself

And doing fish fingers with baked potato and peas for Gracie who is now home for Christmas so will be joining us for lunch everyday.

Have had turkey two days on the trot, had family staying over so that was nice.

Cate darlin’ - breath tests mean nothing to me, - I use public transport and have no qualms about consuming mince pies with added Rum or Brandy.

I have my veg prepared and sitting in a saucepan of water. Potato, carrot, leeks and cabbage. Intend par boiling first then chucking into a frying pan like a mixed up bubble. Then will get a small chicken pie out of the freezer.

Oh dear Jazzi that is not good, not good at all, you see the majority of vitamins and minerals present in most veggies are water soluble. Thus the less time spent in water the better, unless of course the final dish is to be a stew, soup or casserole and thus the water is consumed. Otherwise the cooked veggie will have little or no nutritional value.

Get a grip Jazzi.

Anyway just had my din dins … and wait forrit …
