Yes it is, have two hospital appointments later in the week but neither are bad. One annual podiatrist examination ( gotta look after the old tootsies), and one retinopathy test, again just annual check up.
Apart from them just the usual aches and pains that age brings. Hope you are keeping well, and wRm. Do you have a branch of Shaws, near you? Saw the other day that they had these tootsie warmer things, like a big thick firm cushion covered footrest thingy, covered a with soft fleecy material and with a sort of pocket to put feet into whilst sitting on sofa. They were under £3. Also on telly the other night saw the tail end of what looked like a public service notice about government scheme for new boilers for pensioners, would it be worth your while looking into?
In Morrisons today bought two chicken legs that should have been £1.29, but somehow they came out as £1.02. Together with half a packet of BBQ powder mix they will form the basis of tonight’s meal. Cooked them already. In a short while I’ll put on the roasties (potato, sweet potato, parsnip, and kholrabi).
For dessert, sugar free lime jelly made half and half with water and evaporated milk, with a banana maybe.
Finally managed to shake off the worst of the dreaded ‘lurgy’ and am slowly regaining my appetite again - can you imagine that!!! - have hardly eaten a thing since last Friday:shock::shock::shock:
Will now cook the roast chicken that I should have had on Sunday.
Had a real golden oldie yesterday, braised ox-tail, put it in bottom of oven at around 1pm and we had it with plain mashed pots, cabbage, and carrot and parsnip batons. I had put a dozen little shallots in with the meat and they had all but totally disappeared leaving a delicious delicate onion flavour to the gravy. The meat fell off the bones and virtually melted in the mouth. Definitely get that again.
Today it’s turkey cooked fresh from a drumstick, with roasties (potato, sweet potato, parsnip, kohlrabi), carrot, red cabbage, sausage meat and stuffing, and a yorkie or two. Mmmmmmmmm
For dessert probably the capuccino mousse from Waitrose.
