What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

I’m getting a bit sick of popcorn.

How about some onions ?

Hope you watched a movie with your Popcorn.

No need. My life is like one big unending movie  .

Well, I am stuffed! Was persuaded by fellow guests to try one of the other restaurants, instead of the buffet, so following advice this evening I tried the Chinese. Had to book and and it was for 8.30. Eeek, I never eat that late. Anyways, I had 4 veg spring rolls with a dip, then some tender chicken pieces in a gravy type liquid with cashews, and noodles, then ice cream to follow. And an orange juice. And I could have had a soup but knew I wouldn’t eat the main if so!

Very nice setting the restaurant, out by the pool in the gardens, but the music began to drive me mad. It was just a repetitive plinky guitar and other instruments and just went on and on and on and on…

and on and on and on and on…

till I could take no more, and by that time I’d finished my meal. If there is one thing I cannot abide, it’s music in restaurants. Give me peace and quiet, any day.

The other day in Valetta I took a fun train and my ear worm for the remainder of the day was ‘Malta, we love Malta, these are the things that we oughta…’ And repeat the chorus!!!

Mark, how much popcorn did you make? You didn’t tip the whole pack in did you?! But did it taste nice, doing it fresh?

Healthy food for me again ~ chicken and cole slaw, as ever

I casseroled some beef, with carotts, half a red pepper (cos it was there) and about a doz little shallots and a few teeny new pots left from Sundays roast dinner. But then added a twist. When it had been in the oven on the S setting for a good few hours and was bubbling away nicely I added some of those plain white thickening granules and then I added a layer of extremely thinly sliced pots, and turned oven up to mk 5. Meanwhile mixed some suet pastry and as soon as the slices looked done, plopped the disc of pastry on top, turned oven up to 7, and put some broc and cauli on to steam.

Even though I says it as shouldn’t it was delish, and here is the odd thing, the onions had virtually disappeared, all that remained of the dozen or so whole onions were a few tantalisingly soft and tender slithers, and the ‘flavour’ of onions.

A quick lunch today of: Breaded Chicken, Mash & Beans.

mashed parsnips and carrots, savoy cabbage and mushrooms, with vegetable burgers for me and lamb burgers for meat eater.

Lunchtime was a tin of “Mr. Tony” soup with some bread and butter, dinner tonight will be those two big bacon steaks I mentioned freezing a while back, with tinned toms. cauliflower cheese, and some of those newly delivered Maris Pipers with butter on.

Today we had Steak & Kidney Puddings, potatoes, runnerbeans & cauliflower cheese.

Tuna, lettuce, mayo sarnie for lunch

Makes it fresh everytime. The machine comes with a detachable scoop so you can measure a perfect big bowel easily. Bought 2kg of kernels from Ebay with free del for under a tenner. Today I have had a few helpings where I added tomato sauce and some salt. Sickening really but well that is me all over - experimenting and playing with my food is fun  .

Asparagus quiche, chips (homemade) and sweetcorn.

You are a creature of habit. Why don’t you add a bit of onion to it for a change  .

Tonite is a late nite for my son, so we will be having big baked pots, ( from the sack delivered Wednesday), with chilli and cheese.

Funny you should mention onions.
I was eyeing up the spring onions in my fridge and thought of chucking some in but decided against them.

Maybe another time

Yeah!!! its Saturday - means Piglet & apple pie again for lunch today - fabulous!!!

Beef casserole with mash and cauliflower tonight.
