We have just had a big fry-up of: Fried Eggs, Bacon, Sausages, Flat Mushrooms, Bakebeans, Bread & Butter.
Tinned new potatoes, green beans and I did a bit of turbot for meat eater. Had hard boiled egg myself.
Ooooh, love a fry up! Cleared the fridge yesterday, and some veggies had gone manky. Yeuk. So now going to try and use up what’s there. Tonight I had a pizza and baked potato.
Ditto for the fry up. Last time went to Lidl bought a pack of what was described as ‘cooking bacon’ ( which beggars the question , what other sort is there?), which consisted of some tiddly bits, and four big thick, and I do mean THICK sliced of smoked bacon. So the two thickest (and am talking well over half inch thick here) were frozen to have with cauliflower cheese and tinned toms with boiled Maris Pipers (all floury to soak up butter and juice from toms)at some time, whilst defrosted the slightly smaller ones and had with a couple of bangers, strangled eggs, fried bread and beans, love beans with really crispy fried bread. I tell you, that was some of the nicest, tenderest, sweetest bacon have eaten in a long while.
Got half a tin of tuna and some sweet corn in the fridge so will add mayo and make a sandwich for the boys, tin of tomato soup for the veggies, and some ham in the fridge so meat eater can have a ham and cheese sandwich. Great niece is having lunch at school today for the first time so hopefully she will enjoy that.
Going to have Steak & Kidney Pudding tonight.
Had Soup and Roll for lunch.
Am out to dinner this evening at a Thai Restaurant - being ‘treated’.
Hope the Thai food was good UJ?
Just had Bangers & Mash.
Just had Sweet ‘n’ sour Chicken, Singapore Noodles and fried mushrooms.
We have just had great big bowls of Sausage Stew, got some left over for tonight or tomorrow.
We have just decided on a chinese takeaway. Local one does the most amazing and huge spring rolls, so a couple of them are mandatory, and for some reason, when left to his own decides son always has special fried rice, and methinks I will have special singapore noodles.
Talking about Chinese takeaways, we have two in the village and on the menu board of the one they have a meal described as ‘Pekingese’ sweet and sour, I know the Chinese are said to eat dogs, but surely it is not allowed in the UK?

Breakfast from the buffet: fried egg, beans, one sausage, one piece hard fried bread, horrible bacon, not much better coffee, and three slices of toast.
Lunch: late at McDs, ice cone, apple pie and a much needed diet coke with ice.
Supper, from the buffet: tomato and basil soup and a weird roll, breadcrumbed chicken, roastie potatoes and mixed veg (broc uncooked!), a piece of bakewell tart and custard. The apple crumble had fruit in it! Yeuk, ptht ptht!
Last night’s dinner - from the buffet - was: pea and leek soup and a roll, slices of gammon with a pineapple and honey sauce (yum), potatoes, and mixed veg (carrots so al dente they were raw!!!), and a nice jelly and ice cream (vanilla, choc and strawberry…mmmmm).
Daisymay, don’t be daft. Of course not. Where on earth did you get that idea from? Haven’t you heard of health inspectors?
That sort of thing happened with cats and dogs back in the 1960s when they knew no different, but that was 40+ years ago before they were made to understand our laws, and those that were using cat and dog meat, including dog and cat food were closed down, until they were were taught the errors of their ways, but they don’t do that now, for goodness sake.
Mollie darling, I do hope you realised I was joking. Not about the Pekinese, that was the spelling on the menu, have been wondering for years whether to say something but reckon not.
Yes DM, can’t be Pekinese anymore - it has to be Beijing.![]()

I am making this http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/bacon_and_egg_pie_06890 and a variation on this http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/brie_brioche_pie_75406
You can tell what tv programme I am transfixed by from that
I love Mr Hollywood and watch his programmes all the time I just love his Pies and Puds. We have had chicken pie, fruit crumble just this week. Yesterday he had a lovely Irish lady on showing how to make an old school dinner favourite with raspberry jam and coconut sponge. The pie you are making is similar to the sausage meat and egg pie I make a lot, it is delicious. Oh yes nearly forgot the quiche I made yesterday with cheese and crispy fried onions. Again, another idea from the programme.
Chilli con-carne for us tonight.
Tonight we had Mini Chicken Roasts, which is Chicken breast wrapped in bacon with a sausage and stuffing in gravy, and we had baked potatoes, carrots and French beans with it.
