What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Cheese on crumpets for lunch, then the remainder of the pork & cider casserole tonight.

So??? - what’s the verdict??? - Tasty??? something you will do again??? - something that will remain in your recipe repetoire Jan darlin’???

I’ve made it often UJ! However I can no longer get the dry cider I used to like (Blackthorn I think). Could always buy either single can or a small pack.

I get a packet mix (pork casserole), mix that in with most of the cider, and in goes the pork, some onion and cooking apple. That’s it. Yummy.

tonight will be interesting. Couple of days ago had to go down the valley for an appointment at the maxillofacial (no big deal, to do with extraction of broken wisdom tooth)centre and on the way home we passed a huge Aldi. We needed bread and a few other items so we popped in, and found some frozen ‘pierogi’ dumplings, about 17/18 for £1.49 bargain. They are a type of dumpling filled with a mix of minced beef/pork and veggies, and about the size of a billiard ball. So have planned to have them tonight. But what with? Tomato sauce? onion gravy? any suggestions.

It looks as if pierogi dumplings should be fried in butte and served with sour cream. I also saw mentions of a cheese sauce so, it looks to me as if a good tommy sauce with grated cheese would be good.

Have a quick look at this which is very interesting. They sound really comfort foodish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierogi

Interesting, as the instructions are to simmer gently in lightly salted water.

I think the ones you are referring to are the ‘pot sticker’ type (look like little cornish pasties?), whilst these are balls. Besides I loath sour cream.

Today we had Piri Piri Chicken and vegs. Tonight we had Bread and Butter Pudding with double cream on top, mmmmm.

Just had the second portion of my pork & cider casserole. Mmmmmmm.

Still wish I had the original cider as it has the edge on taste! Never mind, this was still lovely.

Since apples are very plentiful this year Jan darlin’ - can always try brewing your own cider to go with the Pork.

As today is Saturday - it’s piglet pie day - a trip to the pie shop and buy their Pork & Apple pasty.

Savoury pancakes for us, veggies ones for me and a nice spicy minced beef for meat eater.

We just had our dinner of: Southern Fried Chicken strips with cubed roasted potatoes and courgette bake.

OK change of plan forgot to get the mince out of the freezer:blush:, so chicken salad for meat eater and toasted tofu salad for me.

I did one of my experiments again. I put a little oil in a bowl, then added some coriander, half a teaspoon of chilli powder and garlic powder, with just a touch of tomato puree and a good squeeze of lime juice and left it to fester for half an hour, then I added a piece of chicken to marinade for another half hour, then cooked it in my halogen oven for just 15 minutes. Had that with three Duchesse potatoes. Deeeelish! What I had would make a sufficient starter for most, but I dont eat much. :mrgreen:

A couple of weeks ago I decided to have a go at making pastry which I hadn’t done since I was at school, using frozen in its place, but I made it myself and made two delicious pork pies and some little meat and onion pies as well.

I luvs cooking, I does! :lol:

I loves cooking too Mollie luv, trouble is, some bugger comes along an eats it all.

:mrgreen::mrgreen:

I don’t have that problem, but sometimes I wish I did. :wink:

The phantom nosher strikes again!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Doing the pancake lasagne today because I remembered to get the mince out Yayy ! :mrgreen:

We are having an Indian Take-away today.

I like cooking as well, I like to experiment on different things.

Chicken breast baked, potatoes, carrot/swede mash, spinach and my favourite peas
Bought a frozen lemon torte which was on offer, so that is our dessert.:smiley:

For lunch I had half a pizza, smothered with extra tomato puree and cheese. It was a basic (cost around 60p from Co-op, and was the second half, kept in freezer). And I’m defrosting some cooked chicken, to have with roasties for this evening. Veg will be carrot, cabbage and broc. Dessert will be a trifle which was going cheap in Morrisons yesterday.
