What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Had a ham sandwich and tin of Minestrone soup around 1pm and have prepared a shepherds pie for later tonight when son gets home around 7.30, also planning a sago pudding to follow.

Did an omelette today, and had some sugar free lime jelly for pudding which actually wasn’t very nice - far too sweet in a sacchariny way.

UJ, I think fried bread was enough with all that lot! And definitely no mushrooms. Hate the little beggars.

But I do love hash browns. Just didn’t have any in the freezer.

As its a lazy day today I took a portion of home made tom and chilli sauce and some of hubbys homemade pasta out of the freezer , shall add some prawns to it and call that dinner…with some nice french bread to mop up the sauce.

Fish pie tonight… doing it with a potato topping. Until now the tatties have been too floury to mash, but I’ve got some which work OK.
Serving it with spicy chard (from the garden - it’s not common is shops here).

Now see that is where we differ as I prefer really floury spuds for mashing/creaming. In fact will only use Maris Pipers, King Edwards or Red Rooster. I can remember one time using, I think it was Estima, and I ended up with something resembling wallpaper paste.

Haven’t got a clue!

We have just had our dinner of Roast Lamb and Vegs. yummy.

Ended up finishing the home made mushroom soup. Then cooked 2 rashers, a tomato, reheated some beans, and piled on a slice of toast.

It is early morning now as I type, but last night for my tea I had a small fillet of salmon, Duchesse potatoes, mixed veg and Hollandaise sauce, and it was deeeelish, as I haven’t had that for many a long time.

For me Sunday food I have prepared the filling for my stuffed peppers and which is marinating in spices overnight and I’ll make a spicy sauce to go with it. I love experimenting with food.

Sunday again folks, so normal Sunday roast.

Sunday roast for us too - roast chicken, roasted parsnips, carrots and brocolli, and of course the roast potatoes.

Sunday roast for us also… roast chicken, carrots, first this year sprouts, and last but not least golden roasted spuds… followed by ice cream…

Cold chicken with some vegetables (not sure what we have in the freezer) for meat eater, hard boiled egg with the vegetables for me.

Im rolling strips of chicken breast in parma ham which i will braise in a spicy tom sauce and serve with roast spuds peas and carrots …

A simple roastie tonight. Cooked chicken pieces defrosted from freezer, as has the ham. In oven now is the stuffing/sausagemeat. Potatoes, parsnips and sweet potatoes on hob now for parboiling. Then carrots & peas and yorkies should finish it off.

Maybe a banana and cold custard for dessert.

Lunch over at the allotment (on duty today) was salmon paste sandwich.

We had sausages & mash for sunday dinner today.

Saturday night’s tea for me was a small fillet of salmon with three Duchesse potatoes, mini vegetables and Hollandaise sauce.

Sunday’s was a roasted red pepper with a minced beef, onion and mushroom stuffing with a home-made madras sauce.

Most tastyful.

Sunday night had Hot Roast Beef Rolls here. It’s a long weekend and as shops are shut on public holidays, except for town shops, the supermarket were selling things last minute out cheap. Got a lovely piece of cooked roast beef for 5 pound. Enough for two meals for two of us and the dog.

So tonight will have roast Beef, potatoes, pumpkin, carrot, peas and gravy. Leftover Lemon Meringue Pie.

And Yippee!! Daylight Saving has started. Summer is on the way.

We are having Steak and Kidney Pudding tonight, with new potatoes, swede and Brussels, gravy.
