Found a mystery package in the freezer just says vege on it so that looks like my dinner LOL
Chicken salad for meat eater.
Being lazy tonight and having a nice piece of plaice and chips from the chippie.
Its Saturday (whooppee!!!) I popped’ down the pie shop and got my Pork & Apple Pastie. Delicious!!! I also went round the corner to the supermarket and bought a jar of Apricot Jam to make the marinade to go over the leg of Lamb I bought yesterday, which will be my Sunday Roast tomorrow.
Roast loin of pork for us tomorrow UJ.
Having a treat vegemite on toast Yum
Stella darlin’ - 1/2 Pt Cider and cook it in the slow cooker overnight - the smell in your kitchen tomorrow morning will be fabulous!!!
I had planned on loin of pork for us for Sunday, and braised stuffed lambs hearts for today. But you know what they say about best laid plans and all that? First off had a really bad night last night, kept waking up with really bad reflux and nausea, not to mention muscle pIns in both arms. Just one of those ruddy nights! Eventually dropped off around 7am, woke around 2.30 still feeling off, but also hungry (go figure). Anyway son heard I was awake and made me a coffee, and an hour later had some crackerbread and chicken noodle soup (about as bland and light as you can get). Then just as was about to clean and prepare the hearts he informed me he had forgotten he was going for a meal with his work mates! So hearts tomorrow.
That’s Ausie Marmite isn’t it? (Suppressing shudder at the thought).
On the subject of Aussie type food stuff, what is that malted drink in the can with green label? I am sure I used to have it as a child but have not seen it for years.
Much much nicer than marmite that personally I cannot stand, vegemite is just lovely though.
Ooh can you buy vegemite here in the UK then Julie? I’d like to try it. Oh Uncle Joe, thanks fir that tip about pork.
I get it in sainsburys so would guess other supermarkets have it too. In the jam aisle.
roast ham with roast potatoes carrots and cauli…with cheese sauce
Thanks Julie. We don’t have a Sainsbury but will look in our other supermarkets for it.
Just had a quick look and Tesco and morrisons also do it. Hopefully someone near you will have it.
I have given up eating as I keep putting on weight. Just fresh air for me from now on. Hey, are there calories in that  ?
No I believe dust is fairly calorie free too
Daisymay, is that Milo? I first had that in Singapore in McD’s, with ice. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven!! So carried on buying it, then bought some to bring home and guess what? Yes, sold in our supermarkets! And I still drink it on ice. Yum.
And for the record, tried Vegemite. With apologies to the Aussies on here, yeukk! Thought it was awful.
Cheap dinner, just how I like it. In the Reductions in Morrisons, I bought chilled roast potatoes for £1.59, and two gammon steaks for 59p. With peas, last of my home grown broad beans, and pineapple in the fridge, dinner for tonight.
One gammon frozen. Cooked a chicken casserole (MUST remember to put it in fridge! Yes, I do forget) as carbooting tomorrow.
Thank you Jaz. yup thats the stuff, Milo, can remember having it as a child, and bournvita, and ovaltine, all three much of a muchness really, although I can recall actually ‘eating’ bournvita out of the can, all crunchy, really nice then, bet I would hate it now. Shall have to look out for Milo. Trouble is that all these things have tons of sugar in them and as a type II try to avoid if I can help. I used to love a mug of the chocolate flavoured horlicks at bed time, have not had it for years now.
No doubt that’s true Geoff, but do you have no shame at all that you’re contributing to the exctinction of the wildlife on this planet and, more importantly, how they’re killed in cruelty? Have you no compassion? So, how healthy are you as a result of this? I suggest that you’re less healthy than many men of your age, so your argument doesn’t really hold up. Your photo in your Profile is a testament in itself.
No need to reply as we’ve argued this before because you are very proud to eat animals in danger of extinction and are arrogant enough in your belief that they exist to be eaten, which of course they aren’t. We’ll never agree on this.
I sometimes wonder if another species arrived here that gathered and harvested human meat, and left the animals alone. They’d leave me alone as there isn’t a pick on me!!!
Anyway, having said that, I’m not a vegetarian, but I would never eat anything in danger of extinction. Wild animals are far more beautiful than we are and it’s beyond my comprehension why anyone would rejoice in eating these magnificent creatures, but thee and me will never agree on this subject so finally, I’ve said my piece, and won’t bring it up again. ![]()
