What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

having roast chicken with potatoes, carrots and roast butternut squash for dinner…don’t know about a sweet yet …as i’m type 2…i usually just have sugar free jelly…but sometimes…I WANT SOMETHING STODGY…

We have just had our dinner of Bangers and Mash. Might have Melon and Ice Cream later.

Me too Lisa darlin’ - but that doesn’t stop me!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Oh Lord I’m stuffed!

Within the last half an hour I have consumed a LARGE plate of Chilli Con Carne with rice, three Pitta Breads (sliced in half and filled with some of the chilli con carne), a plate of chips and some home made strawberry trifle for dessert.

That should do me until Christmas!

Oh strawberry trifle…i can taste it now…yum…

How could you possible eat that lot! I would be ill. SusieJ

You should come here and see what I eat Susie darlin’. Today for instance I woke to a truly delightful smell emanating from my kitchen. I bought a joint of beef on Friday and placed it, with a sliced red onion in my slow cooker last night - the smell of roast beef cooking has permeated my whole flat and its delicious. Have now had breakfast ( two slices of toast and a big mug of coffee - will have something else mid morning) then my lunch around 13.00. Roast beef (obviously), with a couple of Yorkshire puds, roast tatties, roast parsnips, roast carrots, steamed leek and gravy. I also have a couple of cherry pies, which I can smother in custard as a ‘pudding’.

Sometime later this afternoon/early evening, I’ll eat a plate of sarnies and round it off with a wedge of Mississippi mud pie. But for the Type II, I would have had a bag of sweeties or chocolates too for the evening in front of the television.

Having a stir fry tonight for me, meat eater will be having similar but separate as he can’t cope with mixed foods so each ingredient has it’s own bowl. Will put some chicken in it for him and chicken style quorn pieces for me.

Today we will be having Roast Gammon, pots. vegs etc. and tonight just 1 ham roll, starting diet!!

My pork loin steaks have been marinading since yesterday in a Chinese sticky bbq sauce. There’s an aroma every time I open the fridge door, not sure what it is. Tasted ok when I licked the spoon after spreading it over. Might do some rice with peas to go with it.

For dessert I may have pineapple and cream. Also bought some clotted cream and plain scones. I already have mini pots of jam so a lovely cream tea spread over a few days. Morrisons used to sell a little pack of 2 scones, 2 mini jams and a small pot of cream. Now the scones are fruited I can no longer buy them. The rotten devils!

Not bothered about a roast today: I normally have one a couple of days a week anyway, depending on the time I have.

Good luck ! Wonder if a weight loss thread would be a good idea we could support each other

Yes please! I’m thinking of joining a slimming club this coming week. Not keen, but really must lose some weight. Had a discussion with the hair salon when waiting to have hair cut and it was her recommendation. One near me on Thursday evenings.

Think the health forum is the right place for it if mods don’t mind I will start one now and see how many of us are trying to lose some.

After church this morning the wife and I went to Lidl (as we do like clock-work every Sunday!) and I picked up a lovely large Turkey, so for tonight’s Sunday Dinner (for which we’ll have the family round) we’ll be sitting down to a bowl of Leek & Tattie soup, Roast Turkey with all the trimmings and Sticky Toffee Pudding (my signature desert) for desert with plenty of local double cream ice cream. Mmm!

Ssshhhhhh - don’t let ‘our’ Jean hear you - Roast Turkey with all the trimmings is her favourite meal.

having chicken curry for dinner from the left over chicken from yesterday…had cheese and onion toasties for lunch…

I had to read this a couple of times as I could not believe my eyes. Different bowls?? ye gods. What do you do about stews? casseroles? Trifle? For how many years have you been indulging this food nazi? Presumably the habit was first indulged by his mother but when you became a couple you should have put your foot down. I would have a long time ago. And I know from whence I speak, my son went through a similar thing when he was oh, about seven, and asked if he could have the constituents of a trifle served separately. He was told, of course, then he was given a bowl of each ingredient in the order in which it appeared in the trifle on consecutive days. At the same time he started to eat ‘around’ his plate, that is eating each component of his meal separately. All the pots, then all the carrots etc. So after about a week, I made a huge stew, but cut the veggies up really small then said, 'pick the bits out of that if you can. Soon got over himself.

Apart from other considerations I would call this a form of bullying on your o-h 's part.

My husband has aspergers he is not a bully or a food Nazi and quite unkind of you to suggest that. I have spoken about his counting and his food problems before (nothing must touch each other on his plate or he can’t eat it) it is a mental health problem not a marriage problem.

And I don’t mind the washing up and preparing I love him and he would do the same for me.

No cures for aspergers but if there was a way to stop it he would. His mother didn’t understand it and he has scars on his back to prove that, these days we are more enlightened and a mother would be helped to understand their childs condition not try and beat it out of him.

Yes please Julie, a diet thread would be good.:lol:

I apologise unreservedly Julie, although in my defence I can only say that I have not read any posts which have mentioned your husbands condition.
