My favorite diet is the doughnut diet. I just eat the hole and leave the rest for the kids.
Geoff, I’m happy to chat with you, but I’ve asked you before not to call me darlin’, so please respect that because I don’t like it - okay chuck? ![]()
I do admit though that I’m a big lover of gravy as well, and like loads. ![]()
Thank you Cate for the link, I have downloaded it.
Today we are eating out as it’s my Mum’s birthday and we are all taking her to Southend for the day, so it may be Fish and Chips or I might opt for Grilled Chicken Shish Kebab and Salad, that would be more healthy for me.
To keep me on the straight and narrow my doctor has prescribed a medication which removes 30% of the fat in the food I eat. However, if I eat say a fried egg or god forbid fish and chips the result is just awful, I will not go into the sordid details but I will say I do watch very carefully what I eat for instance I would go for the grilled chicken and salad followed by a fat free yogurt.
All I can say to you Mr Ploppy is dough not be so silly and what kind of doughnut did Bob Marley prefer?:-p
I have no idea. What kind of doughnut did Bob Marley prefer?
Wid jammin, jammin of course.![]()

Had to attend the ‘vampire’ clinic again today, so took the opportunity to cross the road and go into Aldi where I bought a very nice piece of Beef which I will cook tomorrow night in the slow cooker ready for Sunday lunch. Also have the Yorkshire puds (Aunt Bessie’s) and loads of carrots and Parsnips, so roast Beef and all the trimmings for Sunday lunch.
Cocktails.
What type of cocktail? and will they be alcoholic or virgin? and will it be cocktails for two?
Rib eye for us today .If anyone has not tried the 21 dry aged rib eye from Aldi ,I thoroughly recommend it ,best steak I`ve ever had .
Nothing virgin in this house!! lol!! But alas… all I have at the moment is Rum… So it will have to be Rum and Coke… or a Mojito… Sadly… OH is working until after midnight tonight so I will have to partake alone…
Nothing wrong with a nice rum punch.
We used to make planters punch with lemon juice, brown sugar, bitters and rum. Pretty potent can’t imagine anybody got anything planted except a bum on a chair.
home made tattie soup for lunch…chicken fillets marinaded in honey and mustard with roast potatoes, sprouts cauli and carrots…followed by jelly cream and peaches…
Fish and chips. I only ever eat half of it - my dogs always knew what was for their dinner and would wait for me to finish.
Well went to see Elysium last night, but did not bother with food afterwards, coming straight home instead. Popped into co-op on the way for some supplies, and picked up a vanilla cheesecake for less than half price (£1.50) some over-ripe and almost liquid and thus sweet as can be, raspberries for 50p and a big plastic jar of sliced peaches also less than half price £1,25). And some doubly reduced thickly sliced butter basted turkey and a crusty loaf for 10p. So we ended up with turkey sandwiches followed by what I called Dame Nellie Cheesecake. Yup a wedge of the cheesecake, with slices of peach on top and piled high with the sweet overripe raspberries. Oh Yeah!! Almost as good as a couple of nights ago. Remember I said I was going to attempt a strawberry pav.? Well my son said he was not too keen on meringue, and as I am none to keen either it meant a rethink. Soo strawberries were sliced into a bowl and sprinkled with about half a teaspoon of sugar and left to macerate for a couple of hours. Then I quickly made some sultana scones, and when they were cooled I buttered them, spread them with whipped cream (used the Bamix which took about 4 seconds, truly) and piled on the strawberries, am scandalised that I have never thought of this before.
daisymay, how wonderful your post cinema picnic sounds, and those scones sound pretty good too. You have proven that some of the best tastes are just simple foods eaten with someone who enjoys it as much as you do.
I must add that food mixers make the best pastry ever as it is never warmed up or over mixed. Also I have found that a little granulated sweetener works just as well as sugar when put over strawberries. Hubs is diabetic so it is a special treat.
Gammon ,egg and chips for us today ,may go healthy and have a grilled tomato as well.
Had vegemite on toast for lunch very tasty, and having a cheesy courgette, mushroom and tomato omelette for dinner later.
