What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

I likes giving folk a chuckle, Cate.

Yes, the weather has been roasting, but that didn’t put me off having a rather hot curry on Saturday night. Nearly blew me own head off, I did!

Just back from a short walk (only 4 miles today) and am tucking into breakfast - two slices of toast sandwiched together with bananas mashed with maple syrup! Not particularly healthy - but delicious. Not sure what will happen about lunch as I am off to play trains at the National Railway Museum with some friends.

Dinner will definitely be salad - chinese leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, grapes, scallions, apple, cheese, homemade coleslaw and potato salad, and honey roast ham. Followed by nectarines and raspberries with homemade yoghurt.

For years I have been concerned about cooking fish. Now that hubby is eating no carbs and we felt like eating something different, we went to the local fish market. At first I bought trout which is pretty easy to pan fry. We bought prawns and scallops and some whitebait which is easy to cook for breakfast. Yesterday we bought some hake fillets, I got some butter really hot in a pan popped the hake in skin down, no flour as it is carbohydrate, and cooked the fish until the skin was crisp and golden. I then flipped it over and counted to 20 and then served it with salad leaves, baby tommies, and artichoke hearts. Hubs said that with the strawberries and double cream afterwards he would have paid £40 for the meal. I had a fresh fruit salad with grapes, melon, strawberries, and a peach with a fat free strawberry yogurt. I was so proud as although I can cook most things fish has always worried me as overcooking is awful. The fishmonger was so helpful, I think I shall be eating more brain food from now on. My dog thinks this is a good thing as this morning I completely forgot to feed him.

Cookiecate that sounds delicious.

For tea last night we had Lamb salad which was so lovely and light.
Then we fought over the cherries. Going out to get some more today.

Vegetarian sausages with salad today for me, meat eater is going to do his own thing if/when he gets home but traffic is holding him up already so will be a late one I think.

I believe I have a steak & Kidney pudding in my freezer - so will peel and chop potatoes, carrots and parsnip and place them with the pudding in the steamer and cook that today - LUVERLY!!!

Funny thing I got four lamb leg chops which should have been £8 for £4.99 in Asda yesterday and will grill them with a salad tonight for tea. I could live on the fruit which is available at the moment as it is I eat a fruit bowl load each day.:-p:-p

Today we just had Chicken Salad, might have some Indian Savouries tonight.

Today we are having Roast Gammon and Vegs.

Not sure, I have sausages, Chicken breast, Kangaroo steak, Burgers, mincemeat, meatballs, faggots. Decisions, decisions.

You have just given me inspiration Uncle Joe. Stovies. Ta muchly

Juiced vegetables today simply too hot to bother with cooking.

Can I come to lunch darlin’ ???

Nah, you should eat kate and sidney puddling with chips and mushy peas, with a thick beef gravy over it. You’ll have to come to a Lancashire chippy to see for yourself!

I’ve had a thin slice of roast beef, mashed spud and mashed carrots with gravy. Most tastyful.

Chicken Salad again for us today.

Egg on toast, shopping tomorrow so not much in the cupboards today.

Its too hot to stand in my kitchen (34 o C) and cook today, so will make do with some fruit for the moment and send out for a take-away curry sometime after 17.00 this afternoon.

I’m just back from doing a shop at the local Lidl (in case anybody didn’t know I’m staying at my caravan in Edinburgh for a few days) and have got two - yes - two large steaks in the frying pan and some chips in the chip pan.

To be fair I haven’t had anything to eat today at all (just coffee and fags!) so I think I deserve a nice big meal to compensate.

Ok Jim matey, steak and chips for dinner, but what’s for supper???

Apple pie with Mackies ice cream
