I believe it was rum as he said he had been ‘feeding’ it for some weeks with brown sugar. And yes he was severely p*ssed orf and wanted to blow his daughters bloody ead orf.
Today we had Chicken Legs Salad. Tonight I am making Bread & Butter Pudding.
Fasting day today because I was a bit naughty yesterday so making sure I get the sugar out of my system again or I will start craving the stuff again !
Tonight we are having homemade Shepherd’s Pie & Vegatables.
Tonight it will be sea bass with jersey royals (should that be with capitals?) and various veggie yet to be decided. Think may even purchase a lemon tart for pud, or, if there are any left a local independent bakery makes the most amazing fruit tartlets and a couple of those will be a treat. Though why they call them ‘tropical’ I have no idea, since when have strawberries, grapes and mandarins been tropical?
Quorn sausages with peas and sweetcorn
Smoked haddock, mash and peas.
Ooh, that’s one of my favourites - do you make a sauce out the milk after the haddock has been cooked in it? Yummy ![]()
Yes, I do make a sauce. I’m not that keen on smoked haddock really but my hubby likes it so I eat it too occasionally.
I had a really fantastic Cod & chips today at Southend Seaside with my Mum, the Cod was so fresh and white, you good smell the sea. Lovely.
We had a stir fry this evening, tomorrow we have fish pie and Mondays will be roast vegetables.
We always plan 3 days in advance, I fancy fish and chips after reading someone had it for lunch, we are lucky our favourite fish and chip shop has just opened a massive drive thru.
'tis 6.30 in the morning and am just about to put a double wrapped shoulder of local lamb in the bottom of the oven at gas mark 2. Should be ready in about ten hours or so!! To be served with roasties, cauli, broc. and runner beans, and mint sauce. May do a milky macaroni pud for afters.
Sunday again - so full roast. Was ‘busy’ in the kitchen yesterday - made a mincemeat fruit loaf (with added Brandy) - tastes superb!!! (even if I do say so myself). And yes I DO know I’m not supposed to eat it 'cos of the Diabetes, but I am succumbing and falling off my diet.
mmm Daisymay I bet your Lamb is smelling lovely by now.
We are having an Indian Take-away lunchtime today.
Arthur did I make your mouth water by having Cod and Chips yesterday.
Naughty Naughty UJ.
You did indeed, I shall have to try the drive thru this week sometime.
My fish pie will be about another 15 minutes, my mouth is watering.
Mussels, onions and parsley cooked in white wine with cream added later served with bread and butter.
Now wondering what to do with the rest of the wine:102:
Ron matey you can either use it in a marinade or drink it!!! the choice is yours.![]()

Had Piri Piri Chicken, potatoes & veg.
Then Choc ices.
Am reserving the remains of the lamb to mince and make an old fashioned shepherds pie tomorrow, (and yes it was delish, had to beat my son off with a wooden spoon to prevent his pinching chunks all evening) so tonight we are having a couple of bacon steaks (local butcher cuts short back into half inch or thereabouts slices) with chunky oven baked wedges (sprinkled with a cheesy mix from Tesco) and chopped tinned tomatoes. Can smell those wedges now, so time to go and grill the bacon methinks.
mmm I can smell it coming all the way down to Essex. I love Shepherd’s Pie. Susiej x
