What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Who said anything about wasting food ? we can’t afford to waste it. Eating less actually saves money and we have less waste as we cook less bulk.

You should take more care of yourself Uncle Joe, try just cutting down a little day by day. Susie x

Having my usual Chicken Pennicilian tonight.

Quorn burgers, cabbage, courgettes and a baked potato, home made lamb burger for meat eater.

Susie darlin’ - I’m not growing old, I’m just growing - disgracefully:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I have decided to grow old disgracefully too just not eating myself to death UJ. Other better ways to be disgraceful.

Yes, well that too Julie darlin’:lol::lol::lol:

You have hit the nail on the head there Joe, I was made guilty about cleaning my plate and my husband had any breakfast or lunch or even dinner that he had eaten put before him for the next meal.

We have both turned into what I call foodaholics and it just isn’t funny. I am obese and need knee operations but they won’t do it until I lose weight but I can’t control my appetite.

My husband is diabetic and needs to be so careful but often binges on all the wrong foods. If we go on holiday it is the food that we talk about when we come home.

The only thing that helps is cutting out all carbs and then we both lose weight and are actually in control of our food because we don’t get cravings. But, the low carb eating cuts out bread, potatoes, all sugars and usually we give in and eat maybe a pizza or an ice cream and months of weight loss are thrown to the wind as like an alcoholic taking one drink we just start all the bad eating habits over again.

Some people like us have eating disorders. I mean even though we know it is putting our health at risk we still put food first. I blame our mothers who through ignorance made us overeat for all the wrong reasons.

I actually told a cousin who is coming to stay that my way of showing love is to feed someone and that she needed to tell me what her favourite foods were. My first thought you see was food as it always is.

You could easily be talking about my husband and I, I think sadly you just have to bite the bullet and cut those things out. We decided we had to do something or we would be dead or in pain for the rest of our lives. Having witnessed family members go through it we decided we didn’t want that and still have things we want to do with our lives.

When you think about it seriously as that slice of bread and a miserable life or leave it and have a longer healthier enjoyable life there really wasn’t any reason for eating it we found.

Also cutting carbs we have found we are far less hungry so the diet is much easier to follow. After the first stone came off and we realised we could do this it’s been pretty plain sailing now nearly 3 stone off and walking is so much easier. Actually wake up wanting to go for a walk !

I know Julie, over the years hubs has lost about 8 stones with just cutting out carbs. When he falls by the way side he does put back about 2 of those stones but by hook or by crook is gradually losing. His blood glucose is pretty normal, his cholesterol is also normal and his blood pressure is lower than it has ever been. We have been doing this for about 12 years and know how much better we feel. We have eaten no carbs for over a year but it is always the same around Christmas, birthdays or holidays we fall back into the pit.

I know it’s a minefield all our celebrations are based around food ! Small deviations though can soon be got over I find it’s only if you give up for several days it gets hard again. So we give ourselves a treat but make sure we get right back on the programme.

I cooked a whole chicken today for dinner, got 3 meals out of it, so we had a roast and all the trimmings.

could not eat had a oppp yestrday

Are you OK Ann darlin’ ??? - was the operation successful??? - have you come through it ok???

Hi Pixie. What operation did you have done? And I hope you are feeling a bit better today.

We have just had Chicken Curry & rice.

Hope you feel better soon Pixie.

We had a vegetarian sausage casserole, with green beans.

In the mini oven right now is a toad in hole and chips. Ginger cake and custard for afters.

Now ginger cake could tempt me off my diet !

Just a bowl of strawberries and a yoghurt tonight (having a light day)

It’s a Jamaican ginger cake and the custard was the 99p smaller pot from Sainsburys. Custard gone now but I must have had 4 servings, with the cake! So now I have a couple of slices left, but no custard.
